The Swiss entry for the 2017 contest in Kiev, Ukraine will be selected through the national final Die Entscheidungsshow. The show is scheduled for the 5th February 2017 and Michèle found time to talk to us.
Hello Michèle
First, thank you for your time talking to us. How are you? Can you introduce yourselves? What can you tell us about yourself?
Hello !I’m very fine and I’m looking forward for the Entscheidungsshow on Feb. 5th. . My name is Michèle Bircher and I am 16 years old. I’ve been singing since I can remember. After I won the Voice Kids in 2013, I’ve started singing professionally. My hobbies are windsurfing in summer and snowboarding in winter.
Your song that you will be presenting for the Die Entscheidungsshow is “Two Faces”. What can you tell us about the song?
The song is powerful and I’m sure it will give good vibes to everybody.“Two Faces” is a song about the two sides that are in every one of us and that we should respect people as an entire personality. I’m very happy with the result of this song, I feel good with it, in terms of music as well as thematically. It’s absolutely me!”.
What was the inspiration for the song, and did you write it specifically for Die Entscheidungsshow and Eurovision?
The idea for this song grew while writing and I was inspired by my thoughts. I participated on a songwriting camp to take my time for new song ideas as well as to get new experiences with other musicians. I did not primarily want to write a typically ESC-song but a young, fresh song that matches my age.
What is your impression of the Eurovision Song Contest in general? Do you watch it every year? What is your favorite entry?
I think that the Eurovision Song Contest is a little bit political but it doesn’t bother me. I’ve watched it every year since 2010. My favorite entry is Mans Zelmerlöw from Sweden.
Apart from the Eurovision Song Contest, where would you dream to do a performance?
I’m dreaming of doing a performance in the Hallenstadion in Zurich, this would be great!
Do you think performing at the Eurovision Song Contest will have a positive impact on your career?
Yes, I hope so. I’m young and every opportunity has something fruitful to provide for my career☺
What is the best bit of advice you have ever been given?
Keep up following your way with passion.
What’s the one thing that might surprise people about you?
Many people think that I’m always happy and I don’t have any problems. But I also must handle the daily troubles. So, I have to fight with my own Two Faces as well.
Can you tell us about your first experience with music?
When I was 7 years, I spent my holidays in Fuerteventura with my family and won a Karaoke-contest. This was my first and a great experience ☺
