One of the most important events in the calendar for each Eurovision fan is Melodifestivalen, Sweden’s national final for Eurovision. Next Saturday, the first semifinal will kick off; 2 participants will go directly to the final, and 2 other participants will go to the second chance show. Ahead of this competition, SVT has released some details about the entries which will participate next Saturday.
1)Sigrid Bernson – Patrick Swayze
In the first performance of this Melodifestivalen season, Sigrid Bernson will be accompanied on stage by Lisa Arnold, Keisha von Arnold, Daniel Koivunen, Kenny Lantz & Edvin Karlsson. A yellow, white & coral backdrop is expected on stage. Christer Björkman describes this as a happy song with a positive, lovely girl while Sigrid describes the song as having Icona Pop references.

2) John Lundvik – My Turn
John Lundvik will be accompanied by Lars Saflund & Stefan Nyqvist. On stage we should expect moonflowers as a backdrop and pyrotechnics. Christer Björkman says that this is a beautiful and nice ballad, while John Lundvik says that his song is a modern ballad.

3. Renaida – All the Feels
On stage, Renaida will be joined by Amir Ashoor, Michael Sjösten, Brian Madika, Martin Jonsson, William Boo & Albin Lindén. A white, orange and black LED light and LED staircase are expected to be on stage as well. Christer Björkman describes this entry as a fresh pop song with a little in the R&B direction, while Renaida says that the song is a mix, it’s speed but not extreme, and it’s not a ballad. It will probably have fun, superfluous energy.

4.Edward Blom -Livet på en pinne( Life on a stick)
Edward Blom will be on stage together with his house dancers Keisha von Arnold, Lisa Arnold, Daniel Koivunen and Kenny Lantz. SVT released that we should expect a LED light in explosion, Gold confetti and fireworks on stage. According to Christer Björkman this entry is something completely different and that it will be crazy. Edward Blom hints that this song flirts with older styles, including big bands from the late 60’s. The song is a bit sentimental in the verses.

5) Kikki Danielsson – Osby Tennessee
Joining Kikki on stage we shall see Sulo Karlsson (guitar/backing vocals), Anna ”Idde” Schultz (piano/backing vocals), Gustav Horneman (drums), John Schubert-Dobro (pedal steel), Maja Stenhram (bass), Lena Magnusson (accordion). The stage will have a “Nashville city night” backdrop with a pink light on Kikki & floor lamps. According to Christer Björkman the song is a great song, just like her “My Way.” Kikki Danielsson describes the song as a quiet country song with steel guitar and a little accordion. There is a lot of feeling in it.

6) Kamferdrops – Solen lever kvar hos dig
Kamferdrops will be joined by Keisha von Arnold, Lisa Arnold, Kenny Lantz, Anna-Klara Folin as dancers, Melanie Wehbe as backing vocalist and Jonas Davidsson with the saxophone. We should expect a pink and white backdrop, heavy smoke, soap bubbles and fireworks. According to Christer Björkman, this is the Norwegian exclamation mark, and it will be very exciting to see how this will be praised by the public. Kamferdrops says that “Our thing is that we build bridges between dansband and tropical. We have never heard anyone else who has done it. We have done the same thing, where we modernize dansband with this song.”

7) Benjamin Ingrosso – Dance you off
This is the second time that Benjamin Ingrosso will be competiting in Melodifestivalen. On stage he will be joined by Stran Cetin and Maria Hazell. According to SVT, the backdrop will be red and orange in the refrain. Christer Björkman comments that this competition ends with dance, while Benjamin Ingrosso describes his entry as having a very minimalist club vibe. The text is a little darker than “Good Lovin’.”
