Friends Arena, Stockholm – The Swedish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Melodifestivalen 2016, came to an end. After a six-shows-long tour, the international juries and the Swedish viewers decided that the honour of representing Sweden in Stockholm this year goes to Frans with the song If I were Sorry.
Tonight it was finally time to choose the Swedish contestant for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest as the final of Melodifestivalen took place on in Stockholm’s Friends Arena.
After the 11 international juries and the Swedish audience casted their votes it was clear that Frans will represent Sweden in Stockholm with the song If I were Sorry.
The international jury which accounted for 50% of the final outcome was made up of the following countries: Australia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Israel, Italy, The Netherlands, Slovenia and Norway. By their opinion Oscar Zia was the best act tonight, receiving totally 89 points.
The Swedish public, via televoting and the Melodifestivalen app, accounted for the remaining 50% of the result. Frans received 68 points by televoting (he received 156 points totally)
