As rumours have already hinted at months ago – and due to his own statements about the possibility of participating at Eurovision – Sergej Cetkovic will be the Montenegrin representative in Copenhagen next May.
At a press conference in Podgorica, it was announced that he will be also the author of the song, which will be a love song. “The rhythm will be dictated by the song itself, which, for now, exists only in contours,” said Cetkovic during the conference. He mentioned that the stage performance will be simple, as well as that the song will be of high quality.
The Head of Press of the Montenegrin delegation, Sabrija Vulic, stated that Sergej would represent Montenegro in the best possible way, and that Eurovision is an excellent way to promote their country: “Our performers have been noticed before, which is great promotion for Montenegro. In Copenhagen we will have 1,500 accredited journalists and even more unaccredited ones, so that is a minimum 5,000 texts about our country, which is an excellent way to represent Montenegro.”
In their five attempts at Eurovision glory, Montenegro has never managed to qualify to a Final, with Andrea Demirovic coming a close 11th place in 2009, and last year’s representatives Who See coming in 12th. Their last two performances have made big news with their outlandish performances with Who See being dressed as astronauts this past May, and Rambo Amadeus having a large wooden donkey on stage.
Are you happy with the change in direction that RTCG is taking with their representatives? Did you expect something outlandish again from Montenegro?
