From a list of twenty acts, San Marino has chosen three songs that are moving one step closer to being this year’s Eurovision entry.

Tonight was the first night of San Marino’s week-long national final extravaganza, Une Voce per San Marino.  20 of the 60 acts competing in the Emerging Artist category were scheduled to perform their potential entries, hoping to advance to the Emerging Artist final on Friday. They were:

  • Aaron Sibley
  • Alessandra Simone
  • Alessia Labate
  • Alice Burani
  • Allerija
  • Anna Faragò
  • ASHLEY
  • Brenda
  • Camille Cabaltera
  • Corinna Parodi
  • Daniel Mincone
  • Daniela Pisciotta
  • Davide Rossi
  • Diego Federico
  • Elena & Francesco Faggi
  • Elisa Del Prete
  • Elis Mraz
  • Ellynora
  • Florent Amare
  • Frio

After the first round, the jury narrowed the field down to a top eight, inviting them back on stage to perform a cover song. They were:

  • Aaron Sibley
  • Alessia Labate
  • Anna Faragò
  • Camille Cabaltera
  • Daniela Pisciotta
  • Elena & Francesco Faggi
  • Elis Mraz
  • Frio

And finally, the jury selected their three favorite acts of the night, with those artists advancing directly to Friday’s Emerging Artist final. Those lucky three are:

  • Aaron Sibley (🇬🇧) with the song “Pressure”
  • Camille Cabaltera (🇮🇹) with the song “Move Em Like You Never Did”
  • Elena & Francesco Faggi (🇮🇹) with the song “Nothin’ can blow me out”

Aaron Sibley may be familiar to long-time watchers of Moldova’s past national finals. He placed 6th at O melodie pentru Europa 2018, dueting with Sandy C on “Once Upon a Time”. Below is tonight’s performance of “Pressure”:

Originally from the Philippines, Camille Cabaltera moved to Italy as a child and rose to prominence in 2017 as one the top 12 on X Factor Italy … the same season that saw Måneskin finish as the runner-up. She also provided the singing voice of the title character in the Italian dub of Raya and the Last Dragon. See her performance of below:

Elena and Francesco Faggi are a brother-sister duet who made the final four in the 2017 season of Italy’s Got Talent. Sanremo devotees may recognize Elena from the 2021 contest, where she made the top eight of Sanremo Giovanni with the song “Che ne so”, co-written by Francesco. Watch their performance of “Nothin’ can blow me out” below:

The other five acts who made it to the second round of tonight’s heat, including ESCZ runner-up Elis Mraz (🇨🇿) with her song “Imma Be”, will compete again on Thursday in the Second Chance round. They will face off with the 4th-8th place finishers from nights two and three of the Emerging Artist section, with the top four from Thursday night’s show rejoining the Emerging Artist final on Friday.

Tomorrow night, 20 more acts are scheduled to compete. Come back then to meet the next three Emerging Artist finalists who will be competing for one of the nine slots in the Grand Final!

Were #YOU surprised not to see Eliz Mraz advance direct to final? Were #YOU charmed by the school assembly-vibe of the whole night, or is that just me? Sound off in the comments below, in our forum, or on social media @ESCUnited.
