In a new turn of events it looks like there may be some hope for the Romanian Eurovision fans after all! Another TV channel in Romania have contacted the EBU in hope of becoming the new Romanian Eurovision broadcaster!
ProTV is the new broadcaster who have contacted the EBU in hope of giving Ovidiu Anton the chance he wants so much.
Aleksandras Cesnavicius, the CEO of ProTV, has stated: “We respect the recent decision taken by the EBU regarding this topic. However, we believe that the measures taken have a negative impact on participant viewers and Romania. Ovid and his team have invested much energy and time to prepare for this event, with the support of the jury and Romanians who voted for him. It is unfair to be withdrawn from the competition in this late stage, just two weeks before the semifinals. Eurovision is seen as an important event nationwide and Romanian viewers should not be deprived of the opportunity of seeing. Thus, the exclusion of Ovid is a punishment given to the country, not a television. Europe must be united, and this competition is a perfect example”.
Only time will tell if the EBU will grant this request. But I believe that all Eurovision fans, whether they like the song or not, will support this campaign.
