During the Eurovision Concert in Portugal, there were many hints at Portugal returning to the contest. This pleases many fans, Portuguese and other.

Unfortunately, the Southwest European country needed to miss the 2013 contest due to a lack of budget. This did not please many fans. For 46 years, Portugal have been trying to win the contest, but have never succeeded, their best result being 6th in 1998.

Fortunately, the Portuguese broadcaster, RTP, have said it is “more than likely” that they will be making a return in 2014. As well as the Portuguese people being happy, many of the non-Portuguese Eurovision fans are ecstatic about this return.

Portugal’s last appearance was 2012, when the contest was held in Azerbaijan, Baku. They failed to qualify for the final, coming 12th. However, due to this very positive response from fans, I feel Portugal will have no problem advancing to the final in 2014.
