In today’s ESC United Know-it-Alls podcast, the ESC United team is sharin their thoughts on Yulia Samoylova’s ban from entering Ukraine.
The situation is quite sticky and emotions run high on all sides. Matt and Zack are reviewing the facts that are known to us and share their thoughts on what’s happening between Russia and Ukraine at the 2017 Eurovision Cong Contest to be held in Kyiv. We understand that there is a healthy amount of subjectivity and our intent is to be very respectful towards all parties involved. But if there is any blame to be given, who is responsible for the situation that we are all finding ourselves in?

nice podcast indeed not taking any sides. was a pleasure to listen to. The issue here is money obv. Our russian side (Channel1) imho obviously wanted their annual payment to EBU back & thats why they want EBU to force Ch1 to be withdrawn by force. & its IMO fair. Any russian artist would have been banned from Ukraine & obviously they wouldnt have been welcomed. Maybe much more physical than simple booing could have happened so obviously no one in their right mind would want to send a representative there so to send a controversial act was the only right thing to get the money back.
as for the laws, well all the ppl know that this particular law only is used when it concerns certain people. Lots of other artists sang in Crimea & then freely had concerts or shot videos in Ukraine. But obv with Yulia their wonderful goverment had to ‘obey the law’
Pretty funny :))))))
