North Macedonia: Vasil makes his stand during rehearsals.

Here he stood. On the stage we mean. It was time for Vasil to take the stage. Check out our recap below.

The song has a very intimate start, with the staging focusing on Vasil as he was standing behind the microphone, all by himself. Dressed in black (a literal mirror of Ana’s outfit, actually), the staging uses CGI overlays to break the slow start. We notice a a sunburst, a super nova and a galaxy, before the staging transitions into a bright flash of gold, as Vasil shows off his trademark postures. Beams of light are projected onto Vasil as he opens his jacket, revealing a lamellar jacket made from disco ball material.

Vasil himself sings and emotes well throughout, saving his voice for the big shows in the following weeks.

Overall, the North Macedonian delegate decided to double down on “Here I stand”‘s theatrical expertise, which is definitely the smart move for them, as it gives a distinct identity in this stacked semi final.
