Following the reveal of the United Kingdom’s Junior Eurovision entry this morning, North Macedonia’s MRT has released their 2022 entry “Životot E Pred Mene” / “My Life Ahead of Me”. Additionally, they revealed that another artist will be featured on the JESC track in Yerevan.

Lara and Irina were selected by the broadcaster following an open audition phase at MRT Studio back in June, but since the selection it appears that Lara has become the main artist for the entry with Irina serving as a featured artist on the song’s harmony. Jovan was also added to the entry as a featured rapper during the second verse but does not appear again during the track. It is currently unknown at what point or how Jovan was selected to join the entry.

The song keeps with recent tradition of having predominantly Macedonian lyrics with some English phrases sprinkled in throughout the second chorus. The music video tells the story of a Lara waking up to a surprising photo of her being labeled as Jovan’s girlfriend and embarks on a journey showcasing that she feels differently, with Irina being right by her side throughout the experience. The track ends suddenly with Lara waking up to everything being just a dream.

This year will be the country’s 17th edition in the contest, having only missed out on the 2012, 2014, and 2020 edition of the contest. To date their highest placement occurred back to back in 2007 with “Ding Ding Dong” and in 2008 with “Prati mi SMS”. Their latest entry “Green Forces” by Dajte Muzika finished in 9th place out of 19 participating countries.
