We know, it’s been a long summer for us too. But take a look at the calendar and you’ll notice today is a very significant day in the Eurovision cycle; any song released from today could potentially be an entry in next year’s contest!

While in practical terms this means very little, it makes fans across the continent keep a keen eye on any new 3-minute releases from their favourite pop stars, in the slim hope of a foray into the competition!

However, a more substantial meaning to the date means that preparations for the contest in Ukraine in 2017 are well underway, and we should be hearing some of the first crop of Eurovision hopefuls in the coming days! Sadly, Switzerland’s usual online platform will not launch from today as in previous years, but we hope and expect to hear more news from some of the participating countries in the coming days and weeks.

Time to come out of hibernation everyone, Eurovision season is upon us!
