The people of Montenegro will decide on who is going to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel. The Head of Delegation for Montenegro confirmed that the public will ultimately in charge of selecting the act and song.

The Head of Delegation for Montenegro Nataša Baranin, confirmed that the public will once again be in charge of selecting their Eurovision entry. An expert commission will put together a list of candidates received from the open submission.

Ms Baranin said to RTCG

It’s like asking whether you need to send a football team or a sports team, and you know that chances are not high enough to triumph or win a medal. The mission of the Public Service is to affirm domestic creativity, domestic authors, to carry that progress , so that we can not be provincialized.

Baranin is aware that Eurovision is a great way to promote the country and their musical talents to the world and that there is no other form that offers such exposure as this contest.

Vanja Radovanovic represented Montenegro at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal with the Balkan ballad ‘Inje. Unfortuately he failed to qualify, finishing in 16th place in the second Semi Final.
