The Republic of Moldova has since the days in Liverpool remained silent, but the country’s national broadcaster (TRM) has finally awoken and stepping into preparations immediately. A few days ago, everything in the regulament has been approved and earlier today, it was all published and set, let’s have a look at it.

Etapa Națională 2024

The selection process will remain similar to the way the country selected it’s 2023 representative. With today marking the start of Etapa NaÈ›ională. Meanwhile, SelecÈ›ia NaÈ›ională will consist of mainly 3 parts(listed below), with each part consisting of a jury with a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 5 members.

  1. Examination of the submissions
  2. Live auditions
  3. National final

Rules also remain similar to last year’s national selection, which include the usual standard rules that are also used for the Eurovision Song Contest. This includes the song can’t be more than 3 minutes, participants must be of age 16 or more, songs released prior to September 1st can’t be submitted and etc.

A national rule that also remains, is the rule of a minimum of 50% Moldovan representation. This means that foreign artists can’t just submit to the national final, unless there’s some involvement from a citizen of the Republic of Moldova. A rather complicated rules, which was even broken as well by one of the acts last year.

The submission deadline ends on the 22nd of December 2023 at 17:00(5 PM) local time – 16:00(4 PM) CET – and right afterwards, the examination of the submitted entries will start and last until the 29th of December 2023. This is the first part of SelecÈ›ia NaÈ›ională.

The second part of SelecÈ›ia NaÈ›ională will then be the live auditions, which will take place on the 13th of January 2024. Here, every accepted submission will then be performed in front of a jury, who will be fully in charge of ranking each song. The 10 songs that receive the most votes from the jury will then advance to Finala NaÈ›ională. Anyone who aren’t present at the live auditions will be disqualified from the competition.

Finally, we reach the 3 stage, which is Finala Națională. Here the 10 songs that made it past the live auditions will take part in the broadcasted national final, where the winner will be decided by both the public vote and the jury vote, with each having 50% representation of the final outcome. Finala Națională is set to take place on the 17th of February 2024.

Last year, Pasha Parfeni went through the same process and went on to be the Moldovan representative. He performed his song “Soarele ÅŸi Luna” in Liverpool, which finished 18th in the final, with a total of 96 points. 20 points received from the national juries, while the public vote, which placed him 9th overall, awarded him 76 points.

It’s slowly looking like February 17th will consists of multiple national finals, so will #YOU be watching SelecÈ›ia NaÈ›ională in 2024 and who do #YOU believe is going to take part?
