Moldova announce plans for 2016

Moldova have confirmed they would participate in Stockholm and they have stated that they are now accepting songs to be judged by the panel for O melodie pentru Europa 2016.

Moldova have once again revised the rules for their national selection. Last year they opened it up to anybody who wished to enter, this year they have returned to the previous rules stating that only Moldovan citizens can enter as singers. The main cause for concern with this rule is that in Moldova, there are only a small number of songs submitted and TRM will select 50 songs for the audition stages, it may not even reach the 50 song mark. In 2015 there were 68 songs received by the TV company, but, the rules stated that non Moldovan citizens can enter, which encouraged citizens of 10 different countries to enter. Will this new rule cause issues for the TV stations plans? Maybe not, in 2014 64 songs were submitted by Moldovan nationals and in 2013 there were 126 songs submitted. Will TRM promote the song search and receive more entries? 7th of December is the deadline for songs to be submitted, so we will find out then.

Moldovan Citizens can send their songs here:

Eduard Romanyuta (Ukraine national) won O melodie pentru Europa 2015 with his song “I want your love” which represented Moldova in Vienna, narrowly missing out on the final, ending 11th in the first semi final.
