It was only yesterday, when TRM (Moldovan broadcaster) announced the full list of participants for the upcoming live auditions after new year. However, it still took less than a day for the first act to be withdrawn from the competition. The song “Obosit” by Aliona Moon and Milla is no longer in contention.
31 songs left in the competition
There has been given no formal nor further explanation to the withdrawal. TRM could only revealed earlier today that the broadcaster had received a statement from Aliona Moon‘s managing team, that the song had been withdrawn.
The withdrawal will have no effect on the competition anyway, on everything will still go accordingly as planned. More withdrawals can of course still occur as with time, but so far, this is the first and only one.
The live auditions will be held on the 13th of January 2024, which will be streamed live on TRM’s channels, but will now consist of 31 songs from 28 different acts, since some of the announced acts did have multiple submissions accepted.
During the auditions, a selected jury will rank each performance and song based on certain criteria’s, where the highest ranked songs will be announced as the finalists for Finala NaÈ›ională 2024, which is set to be held on the 17th of February 2024.
Aliona Moon, who has officially withdrawn from the competition this year, represented Moldova back in 2013, when the contest was held in Malmö. Back then, she sang the song “O Mie“, which means “a thousand”. She was also in Baku back in 2012, as part of Pasha‘s backing vocals. Last year, she also competed in the national final with the song “Du-ma” which means “take me”, here she finished 3rd behind fellow former Eurovision acts Sunstroke Project and eventual winner and friend Pasha Parfeni.
She and her duet partner Milla, submitted the song “Obosit” which means “tired” to the national final this year. With the withdrawal officially confirmed, the song has however been fully removed from the official Eurovision Moldova website, and is no longer available there.
