3 songs down and 4 to go, today we hear Lxandra’s entry to UMK 2023. The final is now fast approaching in just over a month, here is Lxandra’s song;

Lxandra or Alexandra Lehti won the Music Moves Talent award in 2019, a award also won by known acts in the Eurovision world like Alina Pash of Ukraine.

She released her first album in 2021 and aims to create a universal but personal style of music. Her ballad in UMK does just that and in Lxandra’s words is able to create something dark but colourful.

Lxandra grew up on a set of islands close to Helsinki Suomenlinna, though moved to Berlin to pursue her creativity and passion for music. From this, her music has been heard on many American TV shows and films.

Once more, the UMK selection board has released their reasoning for their selection of Lxandra this year;

“For years, Lxandra has been one of Finland’s most promising export prospects, has made a career in the world and now serves up the stunning ballad Something To Lose at UMK. The song is at the same time sensitive and personal, both dramatic and epic. Lxandra is a really tough live singer who has touched and cried at concerts in Finland and around the world. The song will certainly rise to new heights as a live performance. Lxandra is also known as a comprehensive audiovisual artist and we are waiting with interest to see what kind of world the song surrounds.”

With 4 songs down, we are halfway through our UMK extravaganza this week. 3 more songs will be released until the 20th of January setting us up for a countdown to the final. The final takes place in Turku on the 25th of February.
