Team Lithuania, rejoice! The 2023 “Pabandom iš naujo!” (Let’s try again) is now underway!

Lithuania’s public broadcaster LRT announced the program launch on Tuesday and Eurovision hopefuls will have until December 12th to submit their songs with the televised national selection shows starting in January, 2023.

Competitors will participate in preliminary heats and semi-finals before a grand finale to determine who will succeed Monika Liu and represent Lithuania in Liverpool.

Lithuania has been a firm fan favourite in recent years. The Roop brought us socially distant disco in 2021, coming in 6th place after the final voting, tying the previous highest-ranking Lithuanian entry, 2006’s LT United with the unforgettable “We are the winners”. Monika Liu, who introduced the world to the “spooky disco” genre in 2022, left Turin with an impressive 14th place finish for her song, “Sentementai”, the second song in the history of the competition to be sung entirely in Lithuanian.

We eagerly await the announcement for the Pabandom iš naujo lineup, and whether or not disco makes an appearance, it’s sure to be a good time (those of you wanting to relive the magic from 2022 can check out ESCUnited’s coverage here).
