Team Lithuania, get ready, the 2024 selection process, EUROVIZIJA.LT has begun!

LRT, Lithuania’s national broadcaster, announced the details Tuesday. A 6-week national final will take place starting on January 13th with a few key changes from last year’s Pabandom iš naujo competition. This year, 8 acts will perform at each of 5 semi-finals with the top two acts progressing to the overall national final, determined by a combination of jury and popular votes.

At the national final, airing February 17th, the 10 finalists will perform again with the public and jury determining a top three. This top three will perform again, and it will be the public alone who decide who will represent Lithuania in Malmö, which will prevent another tie for the top spot.

Three acts have represented Lithuania before. 2021 fan favourites The Roop (finished 8th overall in Rotterdam) are back with Simple Joy, Andreas Pojavis (finished 22nd overall in Malmö in 2013) will be vying for the nomination with Sing me a hug, and Vilija (who finished just outside the qualification for the national final in Copenhaven in 2014) will perform Save Me. 

The winner of EUROVIZIJA.LT will succeed Monika Linkytė who placed 11th in Liverpool with Stay.

Audrius Giržadas, a producer with LRT’s television programming, said of this year’s final “I am glad that this year’s selection of the competition received a considerable number of applications – this shows that Lithuania’s participation in the song competition, which has been going on for 30 years, is still interesting for both the performers and the audience…”
