The month of February has only recently started, but we are very well into the months of the Eurovision Selection season, and Latvia officially kicked off as well! Yeah! 😀

The Latvian selection is known as “Supernova”, which made it’s debut back in 2015, and since then, Latvia has qualified to the final ever since, so hopefully they can make it a 3rd year in a row, after multiple years, where the journey ended in the semi-finals.

Heat 1

In total, 11 acts performed tonight, and only 4 acts would qualify to the semi-final, 2 of them which were selected by the jury, while the other 2 were selected by a public vote.

Following 11 acts were on stage tonight.

  1. Katrīna Cīrule – Blood Runs Quicker
  2. Miks Dukurs – Spiritual Priest
  3. Anna Zankovska – Rage Love
  4. Edgers Kreilis – We Are Angels
  5. Crime Sea – Escape
  6. Rock’n’Berries – Feel the Love
  7. Lauris Valters – Magic Years
  8. First Question – Naked
  9. Franco Franco – Up
  10. Pikaso – U(Can Keep Your Cools)
  11. Linda Leen – Who Is In Charge

Results

The lucky 4 was selected, as announced a bit earlier, from a jury and a public vote. Firstly, the 2 entries that were selected by the public vote would first be announced, and these acts made the cut:

  • Lauris Valters – Magic Years
  • Linda Leen – Who Is In Charge

Afterwards, there were still 9 remaining entries, and from these nine entries, another additional 2 would be found, that would also be included in the semi-final, which will take place on the 19th of February 2017.

The 2 acts, that was selected by the jury was as follow:

  • Miks Dukurs – Spiritual Priest
  • Franco Franco – Up

Next week, the remaining 11 acts will compete for the remaining 4 spots, that give access to the semi-final. From the semi-final, 4 out of 8 acts will then compete in the grand final, which will take place on the 26th of February.
