Many rumours are are going around the internet with regards to Italy making their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Their neighbour, San Marino made their debut in 2013 when Michele Perniola took to the stage with his song ‘O-o-o Sole Intorno a me’ when he ended in 10th place. If these rumours are true, Italy will be the 4th Big 5 country to take part in Junior Eurovision (United Kingdom, Spain, and France have all participated in the past).

Here at ESCUnited.com, we are awaiting official confirmation from RAI, and will bring you the news if and when it is confirmed.

Other countries which are potentially making a debut in Marsa are Hungary and Iceland who have shown an interest in meetings with the EBU in relation to Junior Eurovision. Hungarians were in Kyiv for last years contest, which could be a positive sign, and due to Kallay Saunders’ achievement in Copenhagen in May, this could be extremely positive in the aim to bring Hungary to the Junior Eurovision stage in November.

Iceland could well make their debut in Marsa, should RUV finally take the plunge. Although no official confirmation regarding Iceland in the Junior Edition, talks seem to be taking place.

The official list of countries will be announced at the end of August / Early September.
