The winner of Campioni category has the right to represent Italy in Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria.
Italy has had a total of 40 appearances in Eurovision Song Contest. They were one of the founding countries that participated in first edition in 1956. Italy has won the contest twice in 1964 (Gigliola Cinquetti – Non ho l’età) and in 1990 (Toto Cutugno – Insieme: 1992). They made their grand comback in 2011 after being absent from the contest for almost 12 years, when Raphael Gualazzi placed second with Madness of Love.
