This morning, RAI announced the 27 Big Artists who will compete at the Sanremo Music Festival in February. Combined with the three winners of Sanremo Giovani to be determined later this month, there will be 30 artists competing in total.
The Big Artists were announced on the news program TG1 by musical director Amadeus, who will be hosting Sanremo for the final time this year. Before the reveal, he noted that this year saw a record number of over 400 Big Artist submissions, of which 50 were eligible to compete.
The 27 Big Artists performing in Sanremo are:
- Alessandra Amoroso
- Alfa
- Angelina Mango
- Annalisa
- Big Mama
- Dargen D’Amico
- Diodato
- Emma Marrone
- Fiorella Mannoia
- Francesco Renga and Nek
- Fred De Palma
- Gazzelle
- Geolier
- Ghali
- Il Tre
- Il Volo
- Irama
- La Sad
- Loredana Bertè
- Mahmood
- Maninni
- Mr. Rain
- Negramaro
- Ricchi e Poveri
- Rose Villain
- Sangiovanni
- The Kolors
There are a few past Eurovision representatives in the mix this year, including Mahmood (2019, 2022); Diodato (2020, before the contest was canceled); Il Volo (2015); Emma Marrone (2014); and Ricchi e Poveri (1978). Another notable entry is Sanremo 2005 winner Francesco Renga.
While we will soon hear the names of the songs each artist will present at Sanremo, we will not hear them performed until Night 1 of the contest, February 6th.
