After the 72nd edition of Sanremo 2022 started off with a bang yesterday, tonight the remaining songs competing for the iconic palm tree statue, as well as the honour of representing Italy at Eurovision, were revealed.
On the second night of the Festival di Sanremo, the last 13 of the 25 big artists participating took to the Ariston stage and performed their song for the first time. Tonight’s ranking was determined by the press, composed of a print and TV jury, web jury and radio jury, who each decided on a third of the overall result.
Tonight’s scoreboard looked like this:
- Elisa – O forse sei tu
- Emma – Ogni volta è così
- Ditonellapiaga con Rettore – Chimica
- Irama – Ovunque sarai
- Fabrizio Moro – Sei tu
- Giovanni Truppi – Tuo padre, mia madre, Lucia
- Sangiovanni – Farfalle
- Matteo Romano – Virale
- Highsnob e Hu – Abbi cura di te
- Iva Zanicchi – Voglio amarti
- AKA 7even – Perfetta così
- Le Vibrazioni – Tantissimo
- Tananai – Sesso occasionale
That means that tonight’s big winner was Elisa and her beautiful ballad.
After two nights, the Sanremo classification looks like this:
- Elisa – O forse sei tu
- Mahmood e Blanco – Brividi
- La Rappresentante di Lista – Ciao
- Dargen D’Amico – Dove si balla
- Gianni Morandi – Apri tutte le porte
- Emma – Ogni volta è così
- Ditonellapiaga con Rettore – Chimica
- Massimo Ranieri – Lettera di là dal mare
- Irama – Ovunque sarai
- Fabrizio Moro – Sei tu
- Giovanni Truppi – Tuo padre, mia madre, Lucia
- Noemi – Ti amo non lo so dire
- Sangiovanni – Farfalle
- Michele Bravi – Inverno dei fiori
- Rkomi – Insuperabile
- Achille Lauro – Domenica
- Matteo Romano – Virale
- Highsnob e Hu – Abbi cura di te
- Giusy Ferreri – Miele
- Iva Zanicchi – Voglio amarti
- AKA 7even – Perfetta così
- Le Vibrazioni – Tantissimo
- Yuman – Ore e qui
- Tananai – Sesso occasionale
- Ana Mena – Duecentomila ore
As such, the runaway winner for the press jury was also Elisa overall, with Mahmood and Blanco the runners-up and La Rappresentante di Lista completing the top 3.
Of course, everything can still change, with the demoscopic jury and televote still to have their say in the ranking.
As Amadeus guided us through another fun but sleepless night, he was joined by co-host and actress Lorena Cesarini, best known for the TV show Suburra. Other guests included last year’s third place and Eurovision 2018 participant Ermal Meta, who performed his Sanremo 2021 song Un millione di cose da dirti, Sanremo regulars Malika Ayane and Arisa and Eurovision 2017 participant Francesca Michielin, who was the conductor of Emma’s song.
Building on Sanremo’s reputation of being chaotic yet legendary, tonight’s show included another string of meme-worthy moments, including slightly too many sketches by Italian actor Checco Zalone and more cruise ship action.
As the cherry on top, Amadeus revealed that Laura Pausini, Mika and Alessandro Cattelan will be the hosts of Eurovision 2022 after a great cover of ABBA’s I Have A Dream.
Tomorrow, during the third night of Sanremo, all 25 artists will perform their competing entries again. Tune in at 20:40 CET on RAI1 to see all the action and we will of course keep you updated here at escYOUnited.
The winner of Sanremo 2022 will represent Italy as the host entry at the Eurovision Song Festival 2022 in Turin. Last year, Måneskin won Sanremo, subsequently winning Eurovision and taking over Europe and the world.
