Last week, RAI revealed that 13-year-old Chanel Dilecta will represent Italy at Junior Eurovision, with a song to be revealed this week. As promised, their entry “BLA BLA BLA” was released today.
This catchy pop track is light and easy to dance along to, but beneath the upbeat surface the song carries a thoughtful message about the state of the world today. In RAI’s initial press release, the song was described as anthem for how many young people feel when our nations are grappling with challenging issues like climate change and the struggle for peace. “[It’s about] the promises that must always be kept and the words that must never be trivialized, otherwise it will only be an empty ‘bla bla bla'” – a message even adults could take to heart.
“BLA BLA BLA” was composed by Marco Iardella and the lyrics were written by Carmine Spera, Fabrizio Palaferri, and Angela Senatore. Chanel will compete for Italy in Yerevan on December 11
