It seems that the Irish broadcaster RTÉ has had enough of the Late Late Show’s Eurosong selection and has scrapped it altogether for 2015, according to Irish website Goss.ie (or perhaps it was Linda Martin’s 2014 tirade?)

The site reports that former Westlife star Nicky Byrne is being lined up to host a newly returned version of popular show The Hit, in which songwriters pitched their songs to established artists to create the next biggest chart hit. However, the new version of the show would instead try to find talented artists to put forward to Europe in 2015.

Currently however, the Irish broadcaster has not made an official announcement of their intentions for next year, but it seems likely that RTÉ has grown tired of the recent poor results (sans Jedward) for Ireland in the contest.

Ireland were represented in 2014 by Can-linn and Kasey Smith, who finished 12th in the semi-final in Copenhagen and therefore failed to advance to the grand final.
