A recent slice of worrying news for Eurovision fans has forums and Facebook groups buzzing with rumours after the Hungarian broadcaster MTVA refused to confirm their intentions for Eurovision 2018.
In a blog post on the ESC Hungary website, the broadcaster states that all information regarding participation would be revealed with the full list of Eurovision participants in November, bucking the trend of early confirmations for the central European nation.
Since returning to the contest full-time from 2011, Hungary has seen a renewal in fortunes, reaching every final since and reaching the top ten on three occasions; 10th in 2013 with “Kedvesem (Zoohacker Remix)”, 5th with “Running” the following year and 8th this year with “Origo”.
While no details have been confirmed, there are no reasons currently to expect a Hungarian withdrawal or cancellation of A Dal despite concern over lack of investment in the project from MTVA.
