ESCUNITED wishes Lys Assia a Happy Birthday. The Eurovision legend is celebrating her 89th birthday. The Swiss singer was born in 1924 and was the first Eurovision winner ever when in 1956 Lys convinced the juries with her “Refrain” which has become a classic among the diehard Eurovision fans. Since her victory the contest has changed quite a bit but to this day Lys is actively involved in the ESC world and we all hope she’ll stick around for many years to come.
