The countdown to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 is well and truly on, with Georgia to choose their entry in the final of selection show Ranina tonight.
Tonight’s final will conclude the 5th edition of the show where, unlike past years which have seen three finalists, four singers will compete. The winner will go on to represent Georgia at the 20th edition of Junior Eurovision in Yerevan, Armenia this coming December.
The four acts that will take the stage tonight are:
- Nikoloz Kharati
- Oto Bazerashvili
- Mariam Bigvava
- Vache Ghviniashvili
The judging will be undertaken by a jury of three people, who can award each song up to 40 points – a score from one to 10 in each of the categories of vocal, performance, artistry and collaboration.
Georgia is the most successful nation in the history of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, having won three times, and making the top five on another six occasions since their debut in 2007. Last year’s representative Niko Kajaia, who was also chosen via Ranina, placed 4th with his trilingual funk-inspired tune “Let’s Count the Smiles”.
You can watch the selection show live here at 7pm CEST!
