Georgia’s 1TV announced today that Nutsa Buzaladze will release her Eurovision 2024 entry, “Firefighter,” on March 11, 2024.

The internally selected Buzaladze, who had earlier revealed that her entry would lean more towards dance and would be written and produced by Darko Dimitrov, revealed that her entry for Georgia would be named “Firefighter.”

1TV and Buzaladze also included an 8 second clip of the video, showing Buzaladze performing inside a ring of fire lit on a field.

“Firefighter” is written by Darko Dimitrov and Ada Skitka. Eurovision fans will be familiar with Dimitrov, with the Macedonian behind several high profile recent entries since his first entry, writing and producing Elena Risteska’s “Ninanajna” (FYR Macedonia, 2006).

Dimitrov’s best work so far was for his native North Macedonia, with Tamara Todevska’s “Proud” coming in 7th at Eurovision 2019. “Proud” won the jury vote, and is North Macedonia’s best performance at Eurovision to date. Dimitrov’s most recent entry was Vladana’s “Breathe” for North Macedonia, which failed to qualify for the Grand Final of Eurovision 2022.

Buzaladze is a seasoned international singing competitor, having performed in Georgia’s Got Talent, Dancing With The Stars, and The Voice of Turkey.

In 2022, Buzaladze appeared on American Idol, coming in 12th.

Buzaladze is, however, a divisive figure in Georgia. In 2020, she released a single in Russia, and also appeared on two seasons of the Russian show All Together Now.

She caused an uproar when she was seen performing at a party in Moscow, on June 24, 2023. She did apologize, and has since toured the United States and Europe performing Georgian patriotic songs, including Georgia’s national anthem at the United States Library of Congress on Georgia’s Independence Day on May 26, 2023.

Buzaladze has been tasked with getting Georgia back to the Eurovision Grand Final, something the country has not done since 2016, when Nika Kocharov and Young Georgian Lolitaz came in 20th with “Midnight Gold.”

Since its debut in 2007, Georgia’s best performance at the Contest has been 9th place, which Sofia Nizharadze and Eldrine achieved with “Shine” and “One More Day,” respectively.

Georgia is scheduled to perform in the second half of Semi-Final 2 on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
