I'm not sure if this had its own thread? But I think it deserves one actually
Background and info
Jugovizija was the ex-Yugoslav selection method for Eurovision (1961-1991), a sort of "mini-Eurovision" where the local broadcasters of the then republics of Federal Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia), where represented by entries competing against each other.
Jugovizija continued one more year and was in 1992 used as a selection method for then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. 1993-, as a reaction to the Yugoslav wars, Serbia was banned from international events (like ESC), while the other ex- Yugoslav republics continued to take part in Eurovision as now independent states.
When Serbia & Montenegro returned to Eurovision in 2004, the successor of Jugovizia "Evropesma" was established (one year after the Serbian local "Beovizija" was established), and used as the selection method for ESC. The top entries from the local selections "Beovizija" and "Montevizija" (Montenegro) competed in the united "Evropesma" final.
After a scandalous Evropesma in 2006, Serbia & Montenegro withdrew from Eurovision that same year. After the breakup of Serbia & Montenegro, Beovizija continued to be the selection method for Serbia (until 2009).
