But the rules said:

Language should not be official language in any country, but may be official in a region.

Galician is not official language of any country, is it? I bet Sami is spoken by more people, but it's still considered a minority language.

Thanks guys xhug

The choice I made from :cy: was very hard since I had many songs in mind to send, but I finally decided to send a song that is also "ESC-related", since both of the artists took part in ESC, (one in the 80s and one in the 10s), and both of them are also from my region (Larnaca).

xthink About 3 - 3,5 million people speaks Galician language in a country of 47,5 million people (I don't count Portugal area) ...it makes about 6-7% of the population. Isn't it a minority? How is it called in Spain? just like regional language I guess.

I don't know how to vote in this spin-off, since I liked all songs except of 3, and I adored 3 songs that all deserve 12 points. xhelp

Ok, no official language for the whole country, but please, don´t sell me that Galician is a minority language cos it´s spoken by 90% of people in Galicia, that´s why it´s called Galician. Of course you can´t count the rest of the country in the equation because that is not Galicia, easy, right? :D

What I know is that 82% of the population has Spanish as a mother tongue and the rest (18%) are minorities languages. But maybe those numbers are wrong.
However I still don't get why Galician is not a minority language in Spain (the country) Of course it is not minority in Galicia, that´s out of question, but I think our reference is the country not the communities.
I´m confused xthink I just wanted to understand your point, because I might be wrong. Maybe we have different concepts about what is minority language xrose

Of course Galician is a minority language, if Galician is not a minority language, then what is a minority language? A language only few thousands speak? Minority language is a language that in no country is official language. The fact that in the region that is spoken is the language the majority speaks doesn't make any difference. Greenlandic is also spoken by everyone in Greenland afaik, but it's still considered as a minority language since Greenland is not an independent state and belongs to Denmark, which has only one official language: Danish. I don't get what all this fuss is about anyway. xfacepalm

No,no, my comment was not fuss-intended :) I just saw the concept behind this spin-off differently.Never thought of Catalan, for instance, as a minority language, though technically it probably is. And certainly I didn´t say the Galician song does not apply to the rules, that´s not for me to decide :p
