We're at that time of year again when the rumour mill goes into overdrive, as the ESC season draws closer and people begin to speculate who will be going to Baku in May. Will the UK be sending another big name artist? Adele has been mentioned. Katie Melua has been name dropped a lot. Will Jedward return? What will Azerbaijan send now that they've won? Will the Czech Republic or even Morocco return?

Personally, I'm most looking forward to seeing what Ireland (for obvious reasons), Spain, Azerbaijan, Greece and Germany send. Spain are the only one of the Big 4 (or 5) who still seem to take the contest as a joke. I'm dying to see what Azerbaijan will do - they probably wont put as much effort into this entry as previous ones. Will Greece even afford to send an entry? Will they have to cut back their entry (no more huge staplers?). And how will Germany cope without Lena? This could be an excellent ESC year :D

I'm sure every ESC fan will be looking forward to seeing how elaborate Azerbaijan's hosting will be. This could be even more flashy and expensive than Moscow 09 :D

I'm pretty sure Sweden is the most enthusiastic ESC country. :p
They bleed Eurovision up there.

And I'm looking forward to Bosnia pulling out a lot of tricks to try to get a known artist back in ESC again, like Dino last year.

I can't wait till Melodifestivalen, though! :D

Oh gosh, MF :D. MF, EMA and Festival da Canção are my favorite NF's. I can't wait to watch those! Well, those are pretty much all the NF's that I actually watched, not just played in the background last year.

I'm mostly looking forward to the fun conversations that are going to take place here. IT's always fun to watch people with different opinions discuss music and the competitive aspect obviously helps :D

I'm mainly interested in what the UK will send. It obviously won't be Adele, but it fascinates me to contemplate how we can build on the moderate success of Blue. I'm hoping for someone who can get in the top ten, generate big TV ratings and bring greater artistic credibility to the table. I know that's a lot to ask and will settle for two out of three.

Armenian participation will be a great story if they do take part. Their reception in Baku and how they bounce back from failing to qualify will be very interesting.

Lys Assia.
