WOW, THIS ESC I CAN SAY THAT IS THE KARMA IS A BITCH FROM THE LAST YEAR

1- Turkey & Armenia out and almost Russia too from the semis - Showing that nothing is certain in Eurovision so bring what you wear of songs

2- So you're famous and has won the festival once, don't wait right now to relive the old times and successfully recover (Dana & Blue)

3- The last year won an country with one of the highers segurities in the World to another who nothing is safe.
:silent: :silent:

4- With or without a jury, the voting will have their mafia bloc voting

5- I imagine that next year Kazakhstan and Morocco will be in ESC to makes their debut and return to follow the Italy come back success
:D :D

Agree completely with #4. Regional voting is alive and kicking. I thought progress had been made last year, but it seems like it's gone back.

Sorry but political voting is a load of bullsh|t.

If you think that Azerbaijan winning is completely down to neighbour voting then you're clearly mistaken. It won because it was the most contemporary song and the one most likely to become a hit outside of the contest. I'm not saying that politics didn't have anything to do with it for them a bit but there are other reasons why some countries stick together.

1) Music industry. The Balkans stick together because they have a similar music scene. As with the Bavarians, the Soviets, the Scandinavians, the Hispanics, the Turkic countries and the Baltics. That's why some countries give high marks to their neighbours, as they like their musical culture. Russia's song was definitely nothing like Russian musical culture and this showed in the result (even old faithful Belarus gave them only 5)

2) Promotion. If more people know about the song or the artist people are more likely to vote for it. Jedmania spread across Europe a bit and this showed in the results, and this can happen with any artist who promotes a little bit.

3) It's not politics. If it was they would feel inclined NOT to vote for their neighbours as they have more than likely had political disputes or clashes.

And that's only if you look at the Eastern european countries. Italy was 2nd, and they don't exactly have any loyal friends (bar SM) that will always give them 12. Sweden 3rd and Denmark 5th also helps a little to prove it as they only have a few loyal countries. I also know that the UK gave Ireland 12 because Jedward are really famous here, not because they're across the water from us, and the song is also something that would really appeal to the British.

It may seem like backwards process just because the contest is going further East than ever before but look a bit deeper and you'll realise the song is the crucial deciding factor. /rant

Lessons for me:

1) Never trust betting odds!

2) Bloc voting was only paused in 2009-2010 and is back as strong as ever.

3) Political voting has successfully been stopped in its tracks.

4) Voting system needs a radical overhaul in order to freshen it up and make it less predictable.

5) United Kingdom and France cannot win whilst friendly voting continues.

6) Famous artists dont necessarily do well.

7) Russia should become part of a Big 6 in order to give another country the chance of qualification (eg Malta ;)).

8) Euroballads as I call them, like Azerbaijan, will always do well.

9) United Kingdom performs strongest when we send big ballads.

10) Fan popularity doesnt translate into votes on the night.

Bloc voting is where Scandinavia, ex-USSR and ex-Yugoslavian countries vote for each other, as well as bilateral transfer of votes eg Greece-Cyprus, Turkey-Azerbaijan. Political voting is where countries such as the United Kingdom and France perform poorly because they're politically unpopular - that hasnt happened since the Juries were introduced.

5 things I've learned this year.

1) Never trust betting odds.
2) Trust YOURSELF
3) Popular songs on here might not go as far.... (estonia, etc.)
4) What the liveaudience think doesn't matter. (poeple were very much cheering for the UK, but......)
5) I Love it when the 12s are spread out!

DOnt trust betting odds? Guess you all didnt notice the insane drop on Azer during the competition, before all songs had finished. They became favourites and dropped to under 4.00 in odds!

Ah fair enough :p

Although I guess the political voting thing may have just been an excuse dreamed up by some cause they were sending crap songs. Bloc voting is an issue but it's not enough to affect the contest and it's effects are decreasing so I think it's getting fairer year on year :p

and but believe me, look at the votes for Albania, Spain, France, Greece, Malta, Bosnia, Belgium, etc. .. gave him many points in Italy and not because they like the song, because the Italian diaspora was moving up like the Turkish ones mixed with the Jury joy by his return - Manny points to hers...¡¡¡¡

1. Never trust to Betting odds and any forecasts.
2. The quality of song still has a meaning (Turkey fallen this year nevertheless to strong diaspora's support, Russia was on the border)
3. Running order still has a meaning too (Georgia wouldn't be in TOP 10 performing 1 or 4)

1. Don't trust betting odds
2. Us "superfans" don't know what's going to happen
3. If you keep on trying hard to win and send consistently great songs, you will win eventually ;)
4. Famous artists/past winners ≠ automatic success
5. If you send ******************** songs, you're "guaranteed" place in the final is at risk (:am: :tr: :il:)
6. Stefan Raab is the most annoying person on Earth
7. Who the ******************** is Jan Delay? Like seriously, who???
8. Contrary to the stereotype, Germans are not efficient.
9. That stage was too big
10. People will make up ANY excuse for their country not doing well (politcal voting, sound problems)
11. Europe is stupid. Sweden third? Seriously, Europe, seriously?
12. Jedward's song is catchier than chlamydia
13. Eurovision should not be held on the weekend before my exams
14. This site seriously needs to up it's capacity. What's the point of an ESC forum if it doesn't work during ESC?
15. Moldovans are cool
16. Interval acts are boring
17. Brits need to stop being so optimistic about their chances.
18. Spain needs to take ESC seriously.
19. Greece will always do well despite how crap their song may be
20. Ireland seems to love Denmark (12 this year and last) for some reason...
21. Scott Mills is not funny.
22. Graham Norton is hilarious.
23. Graham Norton has completely forgotten that he is Irish
24. The Green Room isn't actually green (I always thought it was)
25. Not everyone loves Belarus

These are the 25 things I learned over the last few days...
