Bad choices indeed.

My knowledge about Musicals is very limited (which is a shame actually) and I despise Girls and Boys bands :?

I will probably host but don't know if I take part myself xshrug

I hoped that one of the Randomizers would win

How broadly are we defining girl/boybands? Do they need to be studio/reality show formed? Is there an age limit?

FabiESC will have to answer that! To me, it means any group (three or more) solely consisting of artists of one gender. But then that means I could send Fascinating Aïda, so others may object to that definition!

That's right! There are no age limits and they didn't must studio/reality show formed.

Generally what tends to define boybands from regular bands with an all-male lineup, is that boybands very often are a "product". 9 times out of 10 they will have been put together by a producer/manager, often chosen for their good looks (to swoon the teenage girls that will come a-flocking) and most of their music will have been written by other songwriters. Usually they don't play their own instruments. Mainly, they're there to sing, dance and make thousands of teenage girls' hearts soar. It doesn't mean they're not talanted singers and performers, but they are kind of a pre-packaged deal and it's what sets them spart from just regular bands. I mean you wouldn't call Coldplay or Metallica boybands. A fair likeness would be... K-pop Idols vs regular Korean artists.

In my day it was groups like NKOTB, Take That, East-17, Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, 'N Sync, etc.

What I'm thinking rules-wise is because most of the songs from musicals are concentrated in either the US (New York etc.) or the UK (London), countries/regions would not be necessary. The song could be in any language though, and of course we need to state what show it's from.
