Golf and rugby will be sports in 2016 which is great because Ireland are good at them :D :D

I'd like to see American football as an Olympic sport, but obviously we know who's going to win the gold every time...

It would be nice to see cricket in the Olympics to help it reach a wider audience

Oh and International Rules football too, just so Ireland has a guaranteed medal :D

Great to hear rugby and golf are coming back, I didnt know that! :D
Some sports Id like to see added; flat horse racing (Ireland would defo get gold I reckon :p), softball or rounders (my fave sports and the only ones Im awesome at ), white water rafting (they could use the same course as the canoes), cricket (be awesome for our traditional sport to be there + it'd be very popular amongst the Commonwealth countries), karate and baseball! :D

I would vote for 1) Bridge 2) Lifesaving 3) Tug of War... all which are already recognized by IOC and lifesaving has even appeared in olympics as an unofficial demonstration sport.

I'll have you know that the smell of pork scratchings and Stella is very arousing.

On a 'serious' note, I'd like to see Muay Thai, or as Charlie Brooker suggested, Crazy Golf.

If they include poker, then they should include other card games like bridge for instance. ;;

As for sports that should be included, I would say: karate and beach handball! :D

Am i the only one who wants the Olympics program to be shortened?
There are so many competitions going on simultaneously, from morning to midnight, it's not really interesting. Compare it to football cups, when half of the world wait all day for the games, crowds gather in pubs, and everyone tunes in for the same match. Masses following is what makes a sport prestigious and no one can follow entire Olympics. I only tune in for some really major events, like 100m men final and for games with polish players. And how can an event get the prestige the Olympic rank is supposed to give it, if it's only one of 5416457812 finals that happen that day? Most people can recall the course of events at last Euro or World Cup, hardly anyone (outside China, maybe) knows who's the badminton champion.

I wouldn't really kick sports away from the Olympics, but greatly reduce number of events within each. My number one enemy every four years is swimming xD Timeline of the first week was:
Monday: Phelps
Tuesday: Phelps
Wednesday: Phelps
Thursday: Phelps
Friday... AARRRRRGGGGGHHH!!
Four styles?! Whose idea was it?!! Why do they run in one style only?

Next go all the sports with weight classes. The logic for the highest categories is simple: you won, you're the best. But if you won in a lower category, you're the best out of those who weigh below X kg and that's just silly. They don't have a special category for short people in high jump...

I could go on like this for long. Shooting from 50 meters and from 100 meters, individual diving and synchronised diving, rowing in singles and rowing pairs and rowing in fours and...

Don't get me wrong, i'm very open for new sports at the Olympics, but before they're introduced, i'd like the OG to be more... watchable with their current set of branches.

I was thinking about the same thing dogmeat. Especially for diving, shooting, swimming and some other sports. But I don't get it how karate still hasn't been included in the Olympics as it is known as one of the most popular martial arts sports in the whole world. Suddenly all of it has turned to what the sponsors want and as of 2016 we'll be watching golf that is known as elite sport. Beach handball sounds nice too, and I would like to see chess as well.

I did find the swimming a bit of a snoozefest. Phelps shouldn't be allowed to race against human beings, each country should nominate their own penguin and have them race against him. Greyhounds against Bolt too.
