If Istanbul gets the olympic games 2020, Germany is interested in hosting the EURO 2020
Germany withdrew saying '' its other countries turn to host ''. Bid submition process has already ended.
Yes, but this was related to Turkey because theres a big relation between Germany & Turkey and Germany didn't want to "steal" them the tournament
Also, the UEFA said that it's possible that there'll be a new sumbition process if Istanbul gets the Olympic Games
It was big in the news here that it's possible that Germany could maaaaybe host the EURO 2020
Right. Let's see then, but I hope Istanbul does not win it, it doesn't deserve at all. First they better solve horrible traffic problem before nominating it.
Okay, me of course hopes that Istanbul get the games
But if not, I'll be rooting for Turkey as the host of the EURO 2020
Id have preferred just a Scotland and Wales bid as 2 teams seems more sensible and everything would be in the same country, rather than the present situation where 2 teams and half of the other is in one country, and the other half of the remaining team is in another.
Personally I think Ireland should have really bid on their own because I have no doubt that they'd be able to manage it.
You're joking, right?First of all UEFA regard all 3 as separate countries, whatever your opinion on it, they are all treated as countries. The UK does not exist in football. Ireland and Scotland are closer allies than Wales and Scotland. They would be the better duo to bid, especially as they already did a joint bid for Euro 2008.
Secondly, Ireland do not have anything like the capability to host a major tournament. Where will the Stadia come from? They have 2 that would be currently capable of hosting. They would have to upgrade and/or build 8 stadiums. They don't have the money or resources to undertake something like that. A joint bid is the only way any of the 3 countries (not regions) could host the Euros. And even then it would be a logistical nightmare. Between the 3 of them there are only 7 Euro-capable stadiums. If this bid even goes ahead, then each of the governments have a lot of work to do.
