I know this thread has been delayed for 5 days but I could just think of creating such thread at ESCUnited. There is still an important message to humanity.

In such a Modern world that exists, all of these issues such as starvation etc should not exist and its horrible to think that people in the first world are so happy to waste as people in poor countries can barely put a meal together, without the risk of contracting some horrendous disease.

I agree with all the stuff said in the video, but the world also needs fewer people. A global population of 7 billion people is unsustainable in the long run.

Yes, I agree with you. I read an article back in 2008 says world has population that 80% more than capable to carry. In the past that populations found its way by natural disasters like drought etc. and wars. But today, we can not kill people who lives right now, this is wrong to human rights. I would be glad that if there will be a worldvide event about born controls for each country to have healthy world population. That way max. in 100 years the things could be the best imo.

^If I said something wrong, let me know that I can fix then.

They do predict that the population will level out soon, People are living longer so that's a reason for it being so high. But also decades ago we didn't have half the medication/cures/vaccines that they have now. People use to die over a cold, or a cut that has gone Septic. However in this modern times people are having fewer children if any at all, and they're having them later on in life. This over time will result in it leveling out. It may even begin to decline again.

I wont go into detail over the possibility of an Apocalypse that will devastate the human population. Which will undoubtedly occur at some point.

It's interesting, some people claim that they want a lower world population, but also want an end to starvation, drought, etc. Starvation and drought are probably the biggest factors that keep the world's population in check ;). You can't rid the world of evils and decrease the population for the forseeable future.

Actually you can. China manages to keep its population growth under control while slowly improving the living standards of the Chinese people. Obviously there are still a lot of poor people in China, but they're on the right way.

I have read somewhere that, China's strict laws on such matters are beginning to go the other way. There are obviously far fewer children in China now and this has lead to the population of the elderly far outweighing, that of the young. Apparently they're considering relaxing the law in order to increase the population of younger people.
Like i said in my previous comment. Within the next 50-100 years the population would of leveled out, and maybe even begin to decrease again. In fact its Asia and Africa (who so happen to be the most deprived continents with widespread starvation and severe weather) that are heavily increasing while the population of the other continents maintain a steady rate or have only a small increase.

And China achieves this by murdering babies.

China is a developing nation and therefore this policy isn't perfect. I bet they already have or will find other forms of punishment for those who don't observe this law. Still, this policy with all its flaws is better than mass starvation due to an unsustainable population growth.

I agree so much with this. I always sound really horrid saying it but anyone who has more than 2 children. Period. is selfish. I would love to have children would will probably not bother as I think it would be selfish of me to take anyway precious resources.

Having said that, I think the world population will probably level out, however, not in a pleasant way (war will rise, diseases will become drug resistant, drought will increase, resources will run out so people will starve and not to mention the end of oil...)

Sorry that sounded so grim.
