Okay okay so I might be a little crazy in this I don't want to come across as the mad spreadsheet guy, but I am curious how many fellow ESC fans use Excel (or any other similar program) to document songs from the contest and National Finals, ordering different contests, years, countries etc.

I've put far too many spare hours into it, documenting (slowly) every year of Eurovision, ordering songs and marking off National Selections over the years. If there are others out there doing similar things, how do you go about laying out your own little bundles of ESC cells?
I am curious if I am alone in this, or if that GCSE in IT has actually paid off

Or do you have some other way of keeping track of your Eurovision favorites?

I entered the votes live in an Excelspreadsheet, when each vote was announced. Was very exciting.

I started doing it last year when i learned the basics of excel. It's completely unfinished, but by 2025 it should be all set with all the statistics that come to my mind, some updates and whatnot:lol:

Excel seemed so scary to me in high school. Now i see it's more fun to use than word or powerpoint

i have an excel file ranking all my favourite entries for each decade, also ranking all entries in each year and using that information to rank the countries in a decade lmao #euronerd

for example my top 6 countries in the 90s are united kingdom, yugoslavia (just 3 entries though), israel, croatia, cyprus and france. i wouldn't necessarily guess uk as the best one before spreadsheeting it!! also my least favourite country in the 90s is IRELAND lmfao. i'm so glad i wasn't old enough to follow that shit live.

I've been meaning to do exactly that for quite a while now... when I get the time, the Excel Adventures will start xheat

Ah it is lovely knowing I am not alone in this!

Oh that is great! I agree! I think spreadsheeting it really does show some surprises. It is easy to forget that UK had some great songs back in the day.
As part of my spreadsheet, I have averaged the personal ranking of all the countries and there are certainly some surprises! I'm looking forward to getting back to 1956 and seeing my ultimate winner aha.
Poor San Marino remains at the bottom though :S

Oh several fellow ESC-nerds using Excel, how lovely! :geek:

I had a complete list of all top tens throughout history...but the computer broke and I didn't get a chance to save it, so I need to make a new list after this years contest. :(
I love excel, it is so simple to use IMO and easy way to see things clearly. I use it often when I am arranging contests on the forum and such as well, to keep track on the votes and such. :D

I do remember though that I have my top 3 every year and a recap of my winners for each year in a recap I made in September in this post:

I have made my ranking for every year but I don't use Excel, I just use whatever ''notes'' program is available. I do want to try and make a video top of every year though!
