I really don't get what's so great about "I'm a queen" that it has to be in the final. Reminds me of a spoiled 5 year old that didn't get the halloween costume she wanted and keeps screaming "I'm a queen, I'm a queen", when she is so far away from being one as the earth is from the moon.

I hadn't heard the songs before semi 2, but the difference in quality was like night and day. I see why people kept saying that the winner would come from semi 2!

The frontrunners seem to be either Melody and J Kbello and staging wise they are absolutely superb, really strong contenders to do really well in eurovision, song wise I'm a bit unsure who would be best. Melody absolutely eats with her song but it is kinda basic and could be single of any drag-queen in Spain J Kbello was vocally shaky and he needs to work on is dear-in-headlights face, but the song is very moody, modern and the staging works really well creating the vibe and delivering unique visuals.

I would personally go with J Kbello, because it is something different, but Melody would deliver a great show in Basel and would be a great opener for the final. So fingers crossed that the winner will be one of them.

I would like to make a special mention of DeTeresa, she sang out of breath and out of tune half the song, but it was a fun performance, very kitsch and unapologetically camp. I really loved it.

I'm not a fan of the song or anything (think it was close to my bottom ranking for studio version) but she sold me on the performance, thought she did a very good job with the vocals, attitude, choreo etc

My choice before semis would be DeTeresa or Lachispa, but both their live entries was full trash at singing. From those who are still in the game I would go with Mel Omana (the only one I can give plus+ in all categories: song/singing/staging, for me after sf shows all the rest have at least one minus-). Nevertheless, kinda feeling that I need to reserve Spain a spot in bottom of my ranking for 2025...

Melody - Esa diva = 9/10
Mawot - Raggio Di Sole = 9/10
J Kbello - V.I.P. = 8/10
Mel Ömana - I'm a Queen = 7/10

DeTeresa - La pena = 8/10
Carla Frigo - Bésame = 7.5/10
Celine Van Heel - La casa = 7/10
Henry Semler - No lo ves = 7/10

Wow, that was another enjoyable night of people that could barely hold a tune and yet the songs and performances were a lot of fun.

Esa diva was almost a full serve. I will pretend that the Constipation Demon didn't escape Melody's mouth in that final chorus. It was such a fun performance and honestly, the song mixed with Melody's energy.. that's how you do it.

I'm so glad Mawot had a glow up. I found Raggio Di Sole quite charming in the studio version, if nothing particularly special. It felt utterly hopeless. Then dear Mawot went ahead and delivered the best vocal probably across both semis and won his place in that final. It was a very bless performance that helped to really warm me to the entry.

J Kbello really needs to work on the verses as it sounds like he's at karaoke night. Thankfully when V.I.P. demands power in the chorus, he can deliver it. Overall I really like the entry. The chorus is infectious and has quite a dark, imposing feeling to it. For a bop, it hits different. I think this would be a great choice (perhaps the best actually) but it needs some work.

I'm a Queen is pretty alright. The song isn't really my thing but Mel's performance deserves respect. I feel she could be a dark horse to win.

I enjoyed La Pena. What was that styling though? Ronald McDonald at the World Cup. I don't want to be mean but good lord, aesthetically it was an eyesore. DeTeresa really started to struggle with the vocals as well. It was an absolute hot mess, and yet still I enjoyed it somehow, and so did the crowd. I wouldn't be surprised if she won the televote and the jury placed her last, which would be a shame.

My final top 8:

Kuve - LOCA XTI = 9/10
Melody - Esa diva = 9/10
Mawot - Raggio Di Sole = 9/10
J Kbello - V.I.P. = 8/10
Mel Ömana - I'm a Queen = 7/10
Lachispa - Hartita de llorar = 6.5/10
Daniela Blasco - Uh nana = 6.5/10
Lucas Bun - Te escribo en el Cielo = 5/10

Any of my top 4 would make me happy. I don't know who will win this. It feels very open other than we know Lucas and (unfortunately) Mawot are chanceless as they both failed in the public vote. I see pretty much anyone winning, and considering some of the songs here were incredibly rough vocally in the semis, it could be all to play for if things improve (looking at you, Lachispa.)

The second semifinal was the most fought and I would say controversial. Many say that the winner is here but... let's not take Bun for granted. The words of the presenters already make you feel something. Comparing Bun to Sobral makes me understand that he could be strongly supported (first of all by the jury).

Now I will analyze, talking a bit to myself like a man in the throes of alcohol, the performances of the second semifinal. Thanks to those who will patiently read my lucubrations.

1. Mel Ömana [Q]: the song is not bad, the singer has charisma, there is a solid voice. Much better in my opinion than Blasco. Only that I find the qualification a bit useless: first, it is not original; second, in the final it will clash with other similar songs. Chanel was both a good and a bad thing. Many singers choose to follow in her footsteps.
2. Henry Semler [NQ]: my broken heart. The boy, humble and nice, brought an emotional song to the Benidorm Fest. He brought a musical style that is in complete contrast with modern trends making us understand that music has different genres and all functional. His voice was solid but even more he was good at emotionally interpreting the song. He was a victim of the intrigues of the jury and the audience still mostly ESC fans. The kind of audience that wants divas with breasts and lips inflated like car tires who perform diva choreographies singing songs with a feminist - radical chic feel.
3. DeTeresa [NQ]: my broken heart continues. It was all terribly excessive but this singer, halfway between a woman from Tyrol, a Valkyrie and a Spanish woman, brought an epic act that deserved at least the final. The song, which was original, exuded a strong Spanish identity. The singer's voice was solid. Probably at the ESC he would have been the "Fulenn" of the moment but, I repeat, he deserved the final.
4. J Kbello [Q]: a more sophisticated Jorge González. The voice was not exceptional but it was solid. Singing and dancing is not easy and must be recognized. The song is good, it is perhaps one of the candidates for victory. If at the ESC the Romanian who sang dressed as a Flamenco dancer did well, J Kbello in comparison can aspire to the moon. There is material to work on for the ESC and make it competitive. The only problem? He will be bottled up in a challenge to the last dance step against fierce opponents.
5. Carla Frigo [NQ]: clearly an NQ but the performance was sufficient.
6. Mawot [Q]: a Jedi could not fail to qualify. Obi Wan Kenobi in disguise had the full support of the jury. From his passage to the next round and the presence of a RAI delegate in the jury, we can deduce that the Benidorm Fest has formed a commercial alliance with Italy. Mawot's voice is not bad, the song is sweet and he is adorable. It's just a bit of a dated song, a filler in the final that will not compete for the victory. Basically a guilty pleasure. Even with an honorable mention, it did not deserve the final
7. Celine Van Heel [NQ]: here is the only time where I say that the jury's plots and the public's tastes are not to blame. The song could compete for the victory but the singer, although she has an interesting timbre, was out of tune several times. The staging was basic. It could have worked well 60 years ago in Cuban clubs but not today. Here we saw how the references that the singer had (Spanish King + Alfred) can be useless if not supported by a solid performance. Sadly NQ but deserved elimination.
8. Melody [Q]: here is the diva who can quench the thirst of the ESC Bubble. The voice is solid, the song works (even if it is not exceptional), the choreography is perhaps the best (the most elaborate, the most ready). In some moments it gave me the impression, also because of the throne, of Angelina Mango. However... even if it is a song that has a choreography it differs from the "Dance Battle" between Mel, Blasco and J.K. The real fight will be with Kuve. It will be the "Divas Battle". The LGBT+ community and the die-hard fans of the Bubble will have to choose their goddess.

In essence, this edition of the Benidorm Fest, although not excellent, was not bad. I saw a general growth and a timid but present desire to experiment. I consider myself satisfied.

For me who wins? BUN 😁 My novia says Melody. We even made a bet. That I know I will win 😌😂

For me Bun, who is the risky choice, could surprise us at the ESC while J Kbello maybe reach the Top 10 and Melody not go below the Top 16.

That's extremely optimistic. I don't see her doing any better than Zorra.
Zorra was too extreme. Two no longer young singers sang a song that was a bit too particular for the tastes of the European public. All this topped off with dancers with asses in the wind doing painful splits. Melody instead could make everyone agree and get a good handful of votes. We must also consider that the other songs that will enter the competition at the ESC will not all be masterpieces. However, Melody will oscillate there, in that area. Maybe even under the Top 16 but I don't believe in Bottom 5. I can't breathe in her, Mae Muller.

J Kbello - VIP is the biggest surprise out of the live performances, the staging and the whole performance are great. I’m not to keen on his singing voice/ vocals though

I still don’t care about all the other songs/ performances, they are all more or less horrendous.

The only ones who wouldn't absolutely crash and burn at Eurovision are:

1. J Kbello
2. Mel
3. Daniela

In that order.
I'm, however, ready for Spain to make all the wrong choices tonight.

My main thoughts about the SF2 :

-It was way better than SF1
-Mel Ömana was INCREDIBLE imo, immediately better than anybody of SF1.
-I liked a lot the package of Carla Frigo, sad her singing was disappointing.
-Why did juries crushed for Mawot ?

You could genuinely have thought it's just RTVE running late!

That's also true.. .I wasn't even trying to upload the page or do anything about it.. .I just went back to Belgium :D

I'm glad I didn't miss the first performance ;)
