I know that many people maybe won't pay much attention to this, but as an athletic fan and as a fan of one of the BEST WORLD ATHLETES ever (and NOT only because she is from my country), but I feel some kind of duty to mention this huge scandal here. Maybe this doesn't belong to the sport thread, but still, I just want to share this with you

So please, read this article.......it is easier for me to give you a link than to explain by my own words because I think I would say many things I don't want to.

Thank you very much for reading !

Tia doens't decide who participates, the organisation.
So blaming Tia is really low, ok

Maybe she is just scared, I don't know:)
But I've never heard that a athlete chooses its concurrents.

And if I were in the organisation, I would choose Blanka instead of Tia
because atm she is the best in the world:)
Maybe Blanka want too much money, who knows?

Blanka probably wanted the real amount of money, because, although she is the world' s best high jumper, she is modest, you should know that! I don't know in what measure Tia is responsible, but the point of view is: Tia Hellebaut (or her managers ok), DEMANDED from the organizers of Meeting de Atletismo in Madrid, to PROHIBIT Blanka to perform because her (Tia Hellebaut) declared that she doesn't want to compete against Blanka! I hope it will be published in all most significant sport newspapers and electronic media as well. This is outrageous! WHAT KIND od the rule is that one athlete has right to request the elimination for the other one? (If such rule exists at all). This supposed to become one of the biggest shames in athletics ever and I trully hope it will happen! Where the heck is the IAAF now, why they keep their mouth shut? Besides, Blanka is the DOUBLE WORLD HIGH JUMP CHAMPION (Osaka 2007, Berlin 2009 outdoor and Valencia 2008, Doha 2010 indoor) and with the 2,08 m cleared, she holds the 2nd height ever jumped (Štefka Kostadinova cleared 2,09 m)! What kind of attitude is this, I am asking all of you?? Where is fairness? Shame!

If you don't know the real reason don't blame somebody yes:)
You say that Tia prohibited Blanka?
What's the evidence? None

Just wait and see for the truth, than you may blame persons/organisations

Well ok Sim, let's suppose that Tia is not responsible HERSELF. But where are the sport principals here? Fairness? Rules? Why IAAF didn't react and they let the prohibition for Blanka? I hope this will be a shame that whole sport world will hear about!

Tia wanted to participate in Madrid.
She said to the organisation: I would rather not jump againt Vlasic.
So the organisation had to choose between them.

If the organisation had chosen Vlasic Tia would not be angry.
Why the organisation choose Tia above Vlasic, I don't know

I think this topic is going to be deleted soon, I see no point in discussing something like this really. :)

NO Miloš please don't delete it because I just want for the escforum members (who like the sports and athletics) to see this injustice and shame because it was not fair towards to the world high jump champion, NO MATTER where is she from! (OK maybe Tia Hellebaut didn't want Blanka's elimination, unfortunately it ended like that, I don't know if you saw the news). So please, leave this topic here.

If we would open topics for every single event/injustice in sport than this subforum would be full of it. Why not open a thread about Lampard's goal not being counted for example?

I do agree it is injustice, but I see there is no big interest in the topic right now, so it will most probably be deleted, but I will leave it for a while too, to see if the interest will get higher.

Well Miloš, if somebody wants to open the topic about Lampard's goal and annulation if it, it is ok, I don't mind it at all! But this is about the athletics, I can bet here are more fans of athletics, maybe they didn't notice this! Athletics is "the queen of all sports" so I think it is important to know the stuffs that happen inside of this discipline...even when that stuffs are so embarrasing, like this one! I ll try to find more news about this "event" and put them here so maybe the interest will grow. It is not always everything about football! Besides, the Worldcup will end in the next week though.

^^ There should be a discussion about all sports, I am the first one who favors that, but there shouldn't be a topic about just one situation in that sport. Let's take a world cup as example, as it's still on. If we would open topics for all matches separately, this subforum would be full. But instead this can be discussed in a topic called "Athletics" for example, that way we will save more space, and make the viewing nicer.

I am sure that choose Tia over Vlasic, cause they wanted to see them battle against each other, just like in Gothenbourg 06, when Hellebaut won. :p

Vlasic has lost against Tia twice in a row (06 and olympics 08) and I am sure that Blanka is a little afraid that she would win again. ;)
Whatever happens, as always will the Women's high jump be very exciting, with these two, the german Ariane Friedrich and the one I believe will shock, the spainsh Ruth Beitia and hopefully can Emma Green from Sweden surprise!

I hope Blanka wins, but any medal will be success, because she has no medal from European championship yet.

I think that Vlaši?, Friedrich and Beitia will be medallists, but no sure in what row  !
