Okay so this applies to the residents of quite a few countries listed below...

In October this year me and my mate are planning on going on a road trip across Western Europe trying to fit in as much as possible within a week or so and so I was wondering if any people on this forum had any pointers or ideas on what to do! We probably wouldn't spend longer than a day in each country so keep it calm

This is the likely route from the UK:
:nl: Netherlands
:be: Belgium
:lu: Luxembourg
:fr: Eastern France
:de: Southern Germany
:at: Western Austria
:sl: Slovenia
:hr: Croatia

and possibly travelling back through
:it: Northern Italy
:li: Liechtenstein
:ch: Switzerland
:fr: France

Do you mean what cities to visit and things to see? Or just general travel suggestions?

Bit of both, where we should go and what to do etc.

We're driving everywhere and I believe we're choosing cheap accomodation but that needs to be sorted

 Does that mean Bavaria, Munich etc. or rather the Schwarzwald region? If it's the former, I can probably help you a bit. though your route suggests you'll visit both

We won't probably meet though :)

Ah well. Whatever you do, DO NOT GO TO OKTOBERFEST (though you won't be likely to have the chance to go there anyway as it ends after the first few days of Oct)

Please answer the following questions:

1) Do you like being forced to permanently watch your step in order to avoid stepping in puke?
2) Do you like big, drunk crowds?
3) Do you like Japanese tourists?
4) Do you like Lederhosen and crappy abominations of these which call themselves "traditional"?

I have to tell you, it's crazy (not meant positively) over here every year. A friend of mine lives near Theresienwiese and I can tell you that his house does not look good in September.

Please answer the following questions:

1) Do you like being forced to permanently watch your step in order to avoid stepping in puke? The jury is out
2) Do you like big, drunk crowds? HELL YEAH
3) Do you like Japanese tourists? Why not...
4) Do you like Lederhosen and crappy abominations of these which call themselves "traditional"? Possibly

Answers in bold, you're not doing a great job of putting me off

Croatia (inland): I would recommend Plitvice National Park - about three hours of riding from Zagreb:) MUST SEE! It is possible to reach it in one day (when you are in Croatia)

You can go to Southern Germany, near Aachen. There's a place where Germany, the Netherland and Belgium meet. You reach there from the Netherlands, or at least it's how I got there. Not far from that spot, in Blegium, there is a U.S. cmentary for soliders who fought in WW2, it's worth seeing!

Salmon was exagerrating. I went to Oktoberfest this year and I don't remember the last time I had so much fun. :p True, there are drunk people everywhere around you but they just hug you and kiss you must of the time, they are completely harmless. Just prepare a lot of money eh.
