Ahmetxhekaj confirmed that should RTK gain membership Kosovo would participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. He told Nacionale that:
It is a joint plan of the current management of RTK that in the coming period, maybe at the end of this year or next year, to officially apply for membership in the EBU.
Mr. Ahmetxhekaj believes that Kosovo may now have a greater chance of joining the EBU following the removal and suspension of Russia and Belarus. He explained that:
Now the chances may be greater due to the movements of the latter in terms of the exclusion of Russia and Belarus.
Does Kosovo have their own broadcasting company yet?
Every year all countries talk about "being united", "music is for everyone", "no politics, just music", "building bridges". In this case they have to be open-minded and think about the music. Countries can't stand each other? Well, 0 points to exchange as Azerbaijan and Armenia do.Having Kosovo would be great but I'm afraid Serbia would retire. Next year in Eurovision will compete 30 countries
I think that's slightly different, because Serbia recognize Kosovo as a part of their own territory; it's not only that "they can't stand each other", and make them joining the contest would be seen as "We are representing Kosovo, why has the EBU let them join as another country?" by Serbians. Even Spain doesn't recognize Kosovo.Every year all countries talk about "being united", "music is for everyone", "no politics, just music", "building bridges".
