Ahmetxhekaj confirmed that should RTK gain membership Kosovo would participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. He told Nacionale that:

It is a joint plan of the current management of RTK that in the coming period, maybe at the end of this year or next year, to officially apply for membership in the EBU.

Mr. Ahmetxhekaj believes that Kosovo may now have a greater chance of joining the EBU following the removal and suspension of Russia and Belarus. He explained that:

Now the chances may be greater due to the movements of the latter in terms of the exclusion of Russia and Belarus.

Does Kosovo have their own broadcasting company yet?

I think RTK is such?

The issue that I can see with Kosovo participating might be Serbia. I think it is even possible they'd try to boycott even though it's been many years already since Kosovo de facto gained independence. It also sends their own athletes for competitions.

Having Kosovo would be great but I'm afraid Serbia would retire. Next year in Eurovision will compete 30 countries:rolleyes:

Every year all countries talk about "being united", "music is for everyone", "no politics, just music", "building bridges". In this case they have to be open-minded and think about the music. Countries can't stand each other? Well, 0 points to exchange as Azerbaijan and Armenia do.

I think that's slightly different, because Serbia recognize Kosovo as a part of their own territory; it's not only that "they can't stand each other", and make them joining the contest would be seen as "We are representing Kosovo, why has the EBU let them join as another country?" by Serbians. Even Spain doesn't recognize Kosovo.

Most countries are retiring because of lack of funds/lack of competitivity.

Kosovo participates in the European cups and for the qualifications in the European Championships and World Cup and in many other sports competitions.

I don't think singers have problems, if in sport the problem does not arise. They can simply divide Serbia and Kosovo into two different semifinals and then in the final they will make a reason for each other.

Kosovo played against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Euro handball yesterday, btw.

It´s funny because apart from :rs:, :ba: was the only country from the former Yugoslavia which voted against Kosovo debuting at Eurovision.

Hypocrites. Playing handball is fine but singing together is not. lol
