For sure not banned, if Azerbaijan could block numbers, interrogate voters and buy votes, if Russia could show a "dark screen" on TV when there was some LGBT moment and vote buying, then how could Iceland possibly be banned? The problem is that EBU has set rules which they didn't even follow themselves, hence creating a bad precedent. At most they will get a small symbolic fine, but that's all.

I fear Hatari were a fluke because yet again their NF was quite underwhelming apart from them. I don't know what their viewing figures for the NF but maybe they should try with an internal selection just to try something new.

idk the icelandic NF has been utter crap for such a while. they have actually lucked out to only have ari as a horrible entry since 2016 because it's been a mess since then. maria olafs really destroyed the country. i can only hope hatari has given its life back.

^^ OMG poor Maria - Her live performance was underwhelming, for sure, but the song itself was alright but I agree with what you said.. somehow, Iceland "lost" its spark in recent years.
It's crazy to think that they have always reached the finals between 2008 and 2014. Good old times.

I think the problem didn't lie solely on Maria or the NF. Iceland is casually forgotten in the 2010s, even if they survived the semifinals in 3rd or 4th they will drift into the left side, even with a potential song -- also counting Finland, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, etc.

Lol Iceland is not forgotten, the other countries simply had much more memorable and/or better songs, and that Maria’s sentence she sung cannot be even called a song.

Also, I found I like Hatrið mun sigra, still hate their political mess(age) and that anticapitalist nautskít.
