Welcome to this FSC May 2019 Spin-Off featuring many top Eurovision-songs from all over the world
Our host city is Masaya , Nicaragua , the third most populous city in the country, with about 170.000
inhabitants. It is situated just east of famous Masaya Volcano , around 30 km southeast from the Ca
pital Managua, and is culturally known as the City of Flowers , or in Spanish la “Ciudad de las Flores”.
It's believed that the Niquiranos were the first people to dwell in the land of Masaya. Pedrarias Davila
initiated the conquest , of what is now Masaya in 1524 , and created the first encomiendas. Due to its
strategic location , nice climate & fertile soil , many people were drawn to settling in the city , thus cre
ating the colonial city of Masaya. Granted a royal title in 1819, it was officially declared a city in 1839.
Masaya is located centrally to a large agricultural production region in Nicaragua . Much of the produ
ction from the regions of Masaya and Carazo and the surrounding areas , is shipped through Masaya
on its way north towards Managua & Leon. Masaya is also a notable industrial center, producing foot
wear & clothing. Other industries incl processing of fiber & making of cigars, soap & leather products
Masaya is known as "The Cradle of Nicaraguan Folklore" and is the heart of Nicaraguan handicrafts.
The city is noted for the annual fall fiesta of San Jerónimo which features folkloric dances and other
street processions. The historical city center has open plazas & two large 16th century baroque arch
itecture churches: the Assumption's Parish Church in the Parque Central, and the St. Gerome's Church
Other attractions: Mercado Artesanias (National Artisans Market), Volcán Masaya National Park. Apo
yo Lake or Lagoon (deep crater lake with many wateractivities). Coyotepe Fortress (historical fortress
now a museum). Masaya also boasts a varied culinary tradition based on pre-Columbian recipes. Ho
wever, most famous Masayan dishes are Nacatamal (a giant tamal) , Vaho (cecina) , & yucca (spice).
Our Host venue is : the Hacienda Puerta del Cielo in Masaya, Nicaragua. One of the best
& most fashionable eco hotel / lodge-complexes in the city, it also includes a popular spa besides a
welcoming swimming-pool & , with facilities also for smaller conferences and different events . The
Nicaraguan management, and everyone working there, are hospitable and serviceminded, & they do
everything they can so that all guests have a pleasant, comfortable & memorable stay. They are pro
ud to host this evening’s edition of the FSC Spin-Off , in one of the establishment's conference halls.

Berenice Quezada and Marina Jacoby
Berenice Quezada (born 1993) is a Nicaraguan model & beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned
Miss Nicaragua 2017 , & represented Nicaragua at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant . She was born in
El Rama, Nicaragua and holds a degree in Tourism and Hotel Management. She grew up facing many
obstacles , but has managed to achieve many of her dreams , allowing her to support, many different
charities. She works with Nueva Vida . She is happy to host this evenings edition of the FSC Spin-Off.
Marina Jacoby (born 1995) is a Nicaraguan model and beauty pageant titleholder, who was crowned
Miss Nicaragua 2016. She represented her Nicaragua at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant. She works
as a model in Nicaragua. She enjoys playing football & considers herself as an honest , social & loyal
person. She said that as Miss Nicaragua she would be involved in initiatives to eradicate harassment
both physical, verbal, & cyber bullying . She is happy to host this evening's edition of the FSC Spin-Off
