Welcome to the FSC February 2024 Spin-Off ft. ‘One Hit Wonder’ songs from all around the world
Our host city is Chennai, India , formerly known as Madras, the capital city of Tamil Nadu , the
southernmost state of India. It's the state's primate city & is located on the Coromandel Coast of
the Bay of Bengal. Chennai’s the 6th most populous city in India with population of ca 4.7 million
Historically, the region was part of the Chola, Pandya, Pallava and Vijayanagara kingdoms during
various eras.The coastal area of the future city was purchased by the British East India Company
from the local ruler in the 17th century. The British garrison established the then Madras city and
port, & built Fort St. George , the first British fortress in India . The city gained importance in time.
After India gained its independence in 1947 , Madras continued as the capital city, of the Madras
State , & present-day Tamil Nadu . The city was officially renamed as Chennai in 1996 . Today the
region is one of the largest metropolitan economies of India. As a gateway to South India, Chenn
ai is among the most-visited Indian cities ranking 36th among the most-visited cities in the world
Ranked as a 'beta-level' city in the Global Cities Index , Chennai regularly features among the best
cities to live in India & is amongst the safest cities in India. Chennai is a major center for medical
tourism & termed "India's health capital". Chennai houses a major portion of India's car industry &
hence the name "Detroit of India". It is also a major film production center and home to local film.
Sights in Chennai: Marina Beach ( India’s longest beach ) , Government Museum of Chennai, Fort
St. George , St Mary’s Church , Wellesley House , Namakkal Kavingyar Maaligai building , Valluvar
Kottam ( built in honour of the acclaimed Tamil Poet, Thiruvalluvar ) , Chennai Rail Museum, Birla
Planetarium , Ripon Building , Victoria Public Hall , and the mesmerizing Kapaleeshwarar Temple.
Our Host venue is the : Sir Mutha Concert Hall in Chennai , India . Known by city locals as
'The Concert Hall', and one of the city’s most famous auditoriums, it is a spectacular venue & Per
forming Arts Facility , hosting an array of entertainment events. With a capacity of over 1000 and
with its excellent logistics, this is an ideal location for an event expecting larger crowds. The fant
astically designed interiors & tastefully presented exteriors have class written all over. Owned by
the Madras Seva Sadan , this hall boasts of an illustrious past repertoire including a brilliant perf
ormance by Pandit Ravi Shankar . The concert hall, is an intrinsic part of the socio-cultural lands
cape and thereby offers a valuable insightful peek into life as it exists in Chennai. It's a must-see

Manushi Chhillar is a former Miss World from India, actress & model. She has acted in the drama
'Samrat Prithviraj' and in 'The Great Indian Family'. She has modelled for Bata, Fashion Big Bazaar
and for Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts. She is proud to co-host this evening’s Spin-Off edition of FSC
