Since we have a thread for the male tournaments, I think we should have one for the female ones also! :D The World cup just started and these are the groups:

Group A:
:de: Germany
:ca: Canada
Nigeria
:fr: France

Group B:
:jp: Japan
New Zealand
:mx: Mexico
:en: England

Group C:
:us: USA
North Korea
:co: Colombia
:se: Sweden

Group D:
:br: Brazil
:au: Australia
 Norway
Equatorial Guinea

Let's talk this up, who will win? Who will fail? Will we get surprises, of who? What team do you cheer for? :D

Four matches have been played:

France - Nigeria 1:0

A pretty dull match overall there France were the better team. I feel though that both teams will get problems of qualifying to the next round.

Germany - Canada 2:1

A great game there Germany was of course the better team, but Canada not bad at all. The Germans were rock solid for very long, but the very last 10 mins it started to be shaky and after Sinclairs superb free-kick in the 83rd min, Canada started to take over a bit, but it wasn't enough to beat the home country.

Japan - New Zealand 2-1

Many thought Japan would crush New Zealand, but Japan had too many mistakes in this match. Still they were strong enough to beat the New Zealanders, which only had one good chance in the match..and that happens to be the goal..

Mexico - England 1-1

First big shock of the tournament! :D England started off the best, but after a great shot by Monica Ochampo, the English girls started to shake, like every english team does when they are in problems. The 2nd part of the 2nd half was totally dominated by Mexico, that was really close getting the win, but was happy enough with their first point in the tournament ever! :)

Tomorrow it is Sweden - Colombia and USA - North Korea. As a swede I am a little worried, even if Colombia is the worst team in the group it isn't a bad one + we have never won a first game in a WC since 1995..let's hope we break that curse..

Colombia - Sweden 0:1

PHEW!! For me maybe the worst match I've seen so far in the WC, but at least we won. Too many missed chances...we will not get this many against North Korea and USA. Colombia is not so good and will get problems qualifying I think.

USA - North Korea 2:0

Didn't see the whole match, but the parts I did see seemed that the US were the stronger team. Though the Koreans weren't bad, so it will be a though game for Sweden in the next match.

Tomorrows matches is Norway - Equatorial Guinea and Brazil - Australia! :)

Congrats Germany, France, Japan (problably England) and now Sweden to the places in the quaterfinal!! :D

We won today 1-0 against North Korea, a really hard game where the swedes played sometimes really good, and sometimes super-crappy, but we won at least and that is the most important. Now last match against the USA and then quater, I suppose against Brazil or Norway :p

And Brazil is now qualified for the quaterfinal, congratulations! :D

We have 6 countries for sure ready for quaterfinal: France, Germany, Japan, Sweden, USA and Brazil. Problably will England get the point they need against Japan to secure quaterfinal and then it is up for the last place against Norway and Australia.
