I really enjoyed the contest, a lot more variety between the nine choirs than I expected. Was rooting for Wales in the absence of the whole UK, I really enjoyed Germany and Austria as well. The Slovenian group did really well, the announcement of the winner could have been better, there wasn't even a pause, or an interview with the winners!

The 2nd and 3rd places have now been announced, Wales finished in 2nd place and Latvia in 3rd.

I think that's the best result at a Eurovision contest for a UK based entry since JESC 2004, and I think Latvia's best result since they won ESC in 2002 (correct me if I'm wrong!)

I think that's Slovenia's 1st victory at a Eurovision contest since EYM 2010, although they were very close to winning EYD 2015.

Do you think Channel 4 experimented with this through S4C and Wales to see how it would do? Welsh choirs are very good so it's on surprise really Wales is there.

I hope so! Wales is especially good at choir's, so S4C was a good match for this.

Taking the opportunity to compare the ratings of the first Eurovision Choir of the Year, with ratings for the other Eurovision spin-offs.

:sl: Slovenia - 246,000 (Higher than 28,800 for JESC 2016 and 134,100 for JESC 2015)
:at: Austria - 140,000 (Lower than 678,000 for EDC 2007 and 495,000 for EDC 2008)
:dk: Denmark - 81,000 (Lower than 514,000 for EDC 2007)
:be: Belgium - 63,500 (Lower than 238,900 for JESC 2005)

:wale: Wales - 52,000 (No Wales specific Eurovision ratings, but this is a high figure for the channel, and is higher than every programme they broadcast on the week ending 14/05/17)

Online is currently at 42,210

Total known ratings: ~ 625,000
