This is just a thread to discuss an alternative method of predicting Eurovision. Last year the general consensus was that the winner would be extremely divisive, in-your-face, and potentially unexpected (and I would say Israel covers 2 of those 3 points). Israel and Hungary were the biggest names.

Here is the chart for this year's contest.

Some interesting points:

- Retrograde Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 1st house. Jupiter was also in the 1st house last year - indicating flashy, big, larger-than-life performances doing well. However I am not sure how the retrograde affects this.
- Venus conjunct Uranus in the 5th house. This exact placement was also present during the 2014 contest. Could it mean that televoters and juries are both going to appreciate songs and performers that aren't afraid to take risks? (Hatari & Conan come to mind, if they win tomorrow night of course)
- Moon in Scorpio in the 12th house. I am unsure how to interpret this one, any assistance would be appreciated!
- Neptune square Jupiter and Ascendant. Neptune also had lots of square aspects during the 2013 contest; a contest which resulted in lots of miscommunications and an intentional lack of transparency (still waiting for those full split results...). Have these ramifications already been felt with what has occurred in Ukraine?

Thank you, Kaz, this is really interesting. I haven't figured out the aspects yet so I appreciate your effort.

- Retrograde Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 1st house. Jupiter was also in the 1st house last year - indicating flashy, big, larger-than-life performances doing well. However I am not sure how the retrograde affects this.

Jupiter in Sagittarius represents the Sage, wisdom, religion, but is also very "positive" on a general level, very uplifting, seeking the blue mountains on the horizon. 1995 the winners were Nocturne, 2007 the winner was Marija Serifovic. I think now that the winner of 2019 will be very different though.

I don't know the house of the victories though. Could have been the 1st too. Serbia was larger than lifer. Could have the 12th also, Nocturne was very calm and dreamy, Serbia had a religious note. But 1st house is the house of Ego (house of Aries), so the winner's show could be over the top, as you said. Very similar to last year. Moon in Scorpio also could indicate a re-run of 2018, when Jupiter was scorpio and Moon in Aries. The winner's could be very flashy and loud, but I think there should be more meaning or spirit to the song.

- Venus conjunct Uranus in the 5th house. This exact placement was also present during the 2014 contest. Could it mean that televoters and juries are both going to appreciate songs and performers that aren't afraid to take risks? (Hatari & Conan come to mind, if they win tomorrow night of course)

This is an extremely outrageous aspect. 5th house is fun & entertainment. And Venus, Uranus together are a very entertaining, risk-loving pair. Conchita took quite a risk in 2014, Jupiter was in Cancer, so perseverance was the theme, but she was daring. I agree, you need to dare to play. Not sure about Portugal, his song ticks many boxes, but he is too dark for this aspect. Although Moon in Scorpio and 12th house could add to the darkness.

- Moon in Scorpio in the 12th house. I am unsure how to interpret this one, any assistance would be appreciated!

This is a huge complication. Moon always represent the people. I do not know yet the Moon on juries night and let's keep in mind that televoters do not necessarily decide the winner. We only get a hint about the televoting winner, while the other aspects are all in the same order the night before.

So, the televoters vote according to the "intuition". 12th house represents intuition, it also represents influence and fraudulence. Maybe the people vote for someone they did not like before nor after but on that night. Or they vote for the wrong reasons and regret that. An emotional backstory plays in. Moon in Scorpio again represents something uneasy, upsetting, provocative, something foul, 12th house is also very dreamy, unaware, spiritual, "drugged". The viewers might not be happy with the result. Maybe they feel disappointed with their result, and think it is very unfair. Or they are angry with the jury vote. But there might be more controversies about the televote, strange results.

On an artistic note, this aspect appeals to something edgy, calmer, slightly crazy, and slow, not necessarily harmonious.

Looks like an orchestrated swindle or trick. Neptune in Pisces and Jupiter in Sagittarius are their fullest potential in these signs. A square is a hard aspect, Jupiter in Sagittarius tends to bloat egos, while Neptune in Pisces tends to be unrealistic and dishonest, outworldish. Jupiter is also a represent of authority so this aspect indicates abuse of power. (also Saturn in Capricorn, but he is not for arts and music). It also could convey more controversy about Israel as host. This aspect also has a strong religious connotation. Religious leaders could weigh in and say that Eurovision has no place in the holy land.

As for Ukraine, no Jupiter square Neptune is currently not playing out. The orb of the aspect is too large.

Portugal is my astrological frontrunner:

Native tongue and sophisticated , as for Jupiter in Sagittarius
Larger than life performance, as for Moon in 1st house
A hint of darkness and mystery, as for Moon in Scorpio
Outrageously entertaining and original, as for Venus conjunct Uranus in 5th house

No other song ticks all these boxes

I am worried bout a voting scandal though

Competitors are Iceland, Italy and maybe Albania, if she could up her game in terms of novelty

Jupiter represents pop culture but Neptune represents the higher "octave" of music and arts. The influence of Neptune is almost irrecognizable, especially in this superficial world. So we express Neptune mainly through abuse of alcohol and drugs and other forms of additions, like social media.

Neptune is the planet of inspiration. The higher octave of Venus, Neptune brings beauty to a higher, more spiritual level. It also holds sway over dreams, the subconscious, illusions, fantasies and all things magical and enchanting.

Neptune intensifies intuition and teaches us to be deeply compassionate. Neptune often asks us to sacrifice for the greater good or for love of another.

Neptune refines, purifies, and cleanses. Any planet visiting Neptune will come away purer. This planet cannot bear coarseness. Highly sensitive Neptune gets us more in tune with subtlety, and therefore increases the artistic side of one’s personality. Neptune rules all visual communication, whether with symbols or gestures, such as photography, film, ballet and other dance arts, music, painting and poetry.

And here is the thing. Neptune is home, he is transiting the sign of Pisces until 2025.

Paenda's Limits is the only song this year so far which is blessed by Neptune in Pisces, like Amar pelos dois or When we're old.

It also checks many boxes of what I stated above, especially Moon in 12 and Scorpio, which makes something that conveys raw, sincere emotion and hurt, appeal to "voters"

The Neptune square to Jupiter in 1 might sabotage its chances though.

Based on the rehearsals, I would have to pick France as the favourite.

Jupiter in Sagittarius favours optimism, foreign languages, political correctness, morale, tolerance and acceptance.

Moon in Scorpio representing the voters represent the appeal of provocation, which Bilal brings to stage quite well.

Hmmm...I think I have to disagree.

Although Jupiter is in Sag, it is also retrograde. To me, this indicates a preference for songs which have this same message of acceptance and tolerance, but aren't so flashy about it. Scorpio is also a sign which HATES showing off, Scorpionic energy is very much about the hidden and mysterious - provocative, yes, but not as openly or perhaps even unintentionally.

I could see songs with strong messages - Iceland, France, North Macedonia - being overtaken in the end by songs which also have a strong message but do it more subtly, such as Greece, Australia, or Italy.

I get your point with Jupiter being retrograde. Jupiter in Sag is naturally retrograde in the month of May. 1995 and 2007 were very mysterious and sophisticated examples for that, none of them were flashy. Nocturne was sublime, Molitva honest.

Jupiter in regress adds more depth and truth but the quest for finding a winner gets complicated then. Austria comes to mind for serving both Jupiter in regress and Moon in Scorpio, Portugal also. Both countries are at 27th and 28th of the odds to win, so highly unlikely. From those of the countries you mentioned, I would only agree on Italy. Australia and Greece are way too flashy and I miss the strong message.

Last year, when Jupiter was in Scorpio, Toy won, which was anything but subtle, but this may have been due rather to Moon in Aries - bam! Jupiter in Scorpio added to the authenticity of the act, that Netta is.

So tonight and tomorrow we have Moon in Libra. Venus just moved into Taurus. I don't think this bodes too well for all those high impact, banging and dramatic songs. The jury and televoters of Semi 2 may connect rather with something much more gentle. (Reminding me of Salvador Sobral two years ago with Jupiter in Libra, Moon in Sagittarius and some Taurus planets)

From the Vice website, this was the horoscope for Duncan on May 18th, the day of the final (Aries, born April 11):

The full moon in Scorpio heralds a profound emotional release—let the tears flow, Aries! You've been carrying a burden for a long time and it's time you put it down. The moon enters Sagittarius, bringing a new adventure your way. Venus and Uranus meet, finding you taking a new approach to money.

How accurate!

And of course it also applied to Jonida and Sergey, didn't it...

Both of them can be happy with their results. But the horoscope for Aries rather applies to those, who have rising sign Aries with moon the eighth house on that night.

Anyways, Moon in Scorpio helped Duncan because of his song. Scorpio is about the things that matter the most, grief over loss, and what hurts more than losing love?

I am struck about the accurate prediction of voting issues.

Jupiter Neptune are to blame for all that cringe moments. And the actors are all proud like what.

Madonna @ Eurovision
Azzi Asars constant delivering of #metoo moments to male contestants
Austrian politician getting caught up in crime on a video
And yesterdays Germany's next Topmodel finale set another landmark of cringe.

GNTM finale 2019: It's Simone who will grin at you from the shower gel bottle in the morning. The 21-year-old has prevailed in the final show of "Germany's Next Top Model" and won 100,000 euros in addition to advertising contracts. On the other hand, the spectator was less fortunate at the absurd show and it will be a while before you dare turn on the TV again.

It is this moment, a few minutes past 10 pm, when you want it to stop. There is Heidi Klum on a patch of artificial turf, next to her a human in a cuddly toy costume, around her in wedding dresses wrapped GNTM candidates and holds a marriage speech for ex-candidate Theresia and her fiancé, with a visibly overburdened Thomas Gottschalk finally fingering the wedding rings out from a casket.

And then as the cuddly toy under the Klum's screeching holds the travel voucher of the advertising partner in the camera, one has the feeling, as if somewhere in a corner of the Düsseldorf ISS Dome an over-motivated TV show director, with a glass of unicorn milk full of pride clinks on his work.
