Eurolaul 1999

Time travelling continues.

ETV received 59 entries for 1999 contest. Pre-selection jury chose 10 entries for the final. 1999 was also the year when the language rule was lifted and of course many used the opportunity to sing in English.

Here are the entries:

10. Evelin Samuel & Camille - Diamond Of Night

The winner was chosen by international jury who gave points in Eurovision style. The results were following:
1. Diamond of Night (80 points)
2. Vee ja soola saaga (73)
3. Didn't I Know (72)
4. If You Could Only Hear Me (67)
5. Soolo (58)
6. Opera On Fire (54)
7. Day I Lived a Year (53)
8. Say You Love Me (49)
9. Mu hääl (40)
10. Aeg kord täidab soovid (34)

Viewers were also able to choose their favorite. Televoting winner was Opera On Fire.

The song went to Jeruusalem in Israel where it continued Estonia's success and finished 6th with 90 points:

Evelin was probably the best for Eurovision. Even though I love also also "Vee ja soola saaga". If I'm right then that song have been sang in Estonia Song Festival. I think I have studied it.

"Opera on fire" is a great one! It's very different from others. It's even nowadays good to listen.

1999 was a very good year in my opinion. Five great songs: Vee ja soola saaga, If You Could Only Hear Me, Soolo, Opera On Fire and Diamond of Night. It was hard to choose but I voted for Opera on Fire, as it was the craziest.
