I know that the Jury and Televote are often slightly different, but I noticed this in the UK voting in 2014:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_in_the_Eurovision_Song_Contest_2014#Final_2

If you look at Poland.. they got 12 points according to the televote of the UK, however a combined jury vote of 25th place (last).. meaning they got NO points whatsoever from us. I think this is totally wrong and the jury needs to be either removed or at least reform it to be 75% Televote, 25% Jury so that we have more influence over who we give points to. What do you guys think?

Aren't there enough topics on this already? Anyway I already gave my opinion here:

As for Poland 2014 I agree with the British jury because I watched the 2014 with a dozen non-Eurovision fans all students from the Music Academy and they taught the song was poor and relied too much on a provocative stage presence. Also they only won the British televote because of diaspora so yeah the jury was right to pull them down because one of their jobs is to prevent and minimize diaspora voting.

It was just unfair. That's all I can say. How can you win televoting and receive 0? It's not 50/50 at all.
I'm a little bit tired of explaining but I can say that Poland will never ever receive 12 from UK or Ireland no matter how good our song will be just because all of the votes are meant to be diaspora votes and their juries will put us lower every year all over.
BTW it was widely commented here in PL and was even seen as anti-Polish.

Polish people in general are ashamed of "My slowianie" so I don't think it won the tele-vote because of diaspora voting but because British people actually got the humor behind the song and actually liked it. (and of course the boobs)

And to answer your question, yes, it does annoy me. A lot actually.

Yea, me neither. To be honest, this is the best Polish entry for me. Widely commented, very popular, airplay-hit song (so, that means people enjoyed it) - and let's face it - we are still discussing about it! :D I don't wanna start over again, because I remember that almost half of my posts during this time was about "provocative stage presence" but on examples from another countries, because some people were partly blind, but ok. :)

The combination of diaspora + boobs won the UK's 12 points. I imagine it's the same for Ireland - we have the same kind of humour. I've never voted for Poland before, but I voted for them in 2014. The jury scandal totally ruined their standing in my eyes, I now favour 75% televote 25% jury vote.

I wasn't ashamed of being slavic because of that performance too. (Yes, Serbs, Bulgarians are Slavic too. Suck it.) However, with every Polish person I spoke live showed disgust and hatred towards that song, but I still love it. :geek:

If you look at the amount of Polish people in the UK and the amount of votes for Poland from the UK in ESC then you will see that its not necessarily votes for the song.

Same as the Irish votes will consist of a LOT for Lithuania etc..

The juries are not there to ruin ESC, it is there to counter neighbour voting / diaspora voting / political voting etc..

It does not always work but for the majority it does

50/50 is the only way
